Where is my Angel set, Joss Whedon!?

Sure, Crash finally gave him the cards (I think) but I still don't have an Angel collection. I'm sitting on the Buffy Chosen collection, but there's no matching angel set (outside the UK). What gives?

Decoy Goat Apr 19, 2006 08:15 PM

They released a complete Angel set here a few days ago.

Maybe yours is on the way ?__?

p.s. <3 Angel long time. Let's be friends forever!

I hope so. The UK has had a nice set for quite some time. Big blue box, right?

Also, yes. BFF.

"Would you like me to lie to you now?"

I reiterate, where, in the fuck, is my Angel set, Joss?

Misogynyst Gynecologist May 16, 2006 06:50 PM

Angel was an incredibly inferior show to Buffy. Yes, Angel never quite hit the utter depths of fucking crap that was a lot of Season 6 Buffy and all of Season 7 Buffy - but Angel never even got close to the high episodes of it's predecessor.

I think it's because Buffy was about analogy and metaphor - while Angel was just about him kicking ass and a half-assed prophecy thing.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon May 16, 2006 06:53 PM

Just buy the Firefly set. You'll be much happier.

No. Hard Pass. May 16, 2006 06:54 PM

Crash, you clearly missed that whole thing where I was the only booster of Firefly when it was still on TV. I ranted and raved when that show got cancelled. I've owned it since it dropped. I have the comics, too. Well worth a read.

And LeHah, I already have the Buffy Chosen Collection. This is why I desire a similar angel boxset.

Even if there was an Angel set released, I wouldn't buy it. I already have the series on DVD. While I consider the series itself to be spectacular, it's not worth forking over a hefty price just to add it to my collection. But hey, I can understand why some fans would.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 23, 2007 06:51 PM

Oh, why here it is!

Amazon.ca: Angel - Seasons 1-5 (Collectors Set) (30DVD): DVD: David Boreanaz

It only took forever!

Way to bump an old thread with month old news, Deni.

My old thread, with My month old news, sir.

niki Nov 23, 2007 11:41 PM

Deni, Crash and Lehah are Buffy fans ? Well, there goes my last intellectual illusions for this place. :(

Misogynyst Gynecologist Nov 23, 2007 11:51 PM

I'm reformed, actually

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 23, 2007 11:54 PM

I'm what?

Oh, GOD no. I couldn't stand Buffy, and I can barely tolerate Whedon. I think he's a hack.

The only reason Deni mentioned me is for some obscure joke pertaining to the "WHERE ARE MY CARDS, CRASH LANDON?" meme. I thought Buffy was an atrocious, derivative, unnecessary rip-off of the somewhat entertaining film.

Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar is such a poor actress, she couldn't even make falling twelve stories onto a pile of broken glass look convincing.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 23, 2007 11:58 PM

No one thinks Buffy is some deep, philosophical piece of work. Well, that's not true, plenty of people do. But those people are fucking stupid. It's a Soap Opera. And Crash, I agree, I hate SMG. But Buffy was like, my drama from the age of what, 12-19 or something? Or like, 10-17. Something. Firefly I do honestly enjoy, and as bad as Angel was, it's a continuation thing.

Also, niki. Zardoz. Don't throw stones in glass houses.

niki Nov 24, 2007 10:07 AM

Damn, I always forget you're that younger than me. Anyway, I'm reassured ~

And Zardoz is a deep, philosophical piece of work. =p

Theres so much worse than her though. Natalie Portman isn't fit to wear SMG's soiled panties on her face.

If anything, the first two (maybe three) seasons of Buffy were helped by the fact that shes a bad actress playing a ditz character. By the time Season 5 rolls around though, it wears so thin, you can see through her like Superman sees through video store walls into the adult section.

Yes, because THE PENIS IS BAD and Sean Connery in speedos is really something everyone needs to see. Shit, I have a hard enough time standing Signorney Weaver's haircut in any of the Alien movies.

That said, the internet has ruined anything involving Buffy to me. Its these dickhead Buffy/Angel/Firefly fans and the idiots that watch Battlestar Faglactica that are ruining the entire fucking TV sci-fi genre. Christ, despite the fact that it followed the worst show in the series' existence, at least Enterprise was a hell of a lot better than anything in 5 years.

No. Hard Pass. Nov 25, 2007 02:05 PM

I think a lot of Buffy's eventual trainwreck can be summed up in two words: Michelle Tranchenzenheidenberg. And actually, LeHah, I agree with you. The reason I can still enjoy absolute soap operas like Buffy is my absolute refusal to pay any attention to the internet-based fans. I get pissed off by the people I meet in real life who try to tell me that Joss Whedon is some sort of deep, thoughtful guy. Fuck you. Two vampires with a soul. Shut up and enjoy the b-movie goodness. The internet, where fuckwittism is seemingly multiplied a million fold, would no doubt have me frothing at the mouth and twitching in about thirty seconds. And I've never been able to get behind BSG. It's still shitty robots and leather to me. And this is coming from a guy who liked Farscape.

Also, speedos AND the crazy pseudo bondage gear. Classic.

Farscape was a better show than Firefly was, at any rate. At least they tried to go somewhere with the characters instead of falling back on yuk-yuk-chuckle one-line Whedonisms and passing off a character who was just bat-shit loco as "deep and mysterious."

Which reminds me, I need a new av/sig.

As for BSG, I've only seen a few episodes, but what I saw had them seriously pumping the melodrama. Dunno, I've heard that MGM or whoever it is that produces the show were really being assholes about downloading, but maybe I'll take my chances and watch a little more.

As for Buffy/Angel...I watched Buffy, beginning to end, the whole series. There were times I couldn't believe what I was watching was actually ever filmed, much less aired, but more often than not I could appreciate it as campy fun. Until Whedon played the ridiculously out-of-place rape card and then got preachier than the 700 club in the last season. Fuck him. And Angel...I'm not equipped to handle those levels of emo. Okay, we get it, you're tortured. Thank you for beating me over the head with the archetype bat, I'm sure never to forget now.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to get into a fight over sci-fi tv on the internet. I enjoy having sex with girls entirely too much to tumble quite that far.

That's why I said THAT far. I have enough knocks against my right to pussy already. I made a thread about Angel for christ's sake.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to verifying that problem in the eyes of those who would otherwise have had sex with you.

That's a really nice anime-science fiction hybrid avatar you have there.
