Textures!
Are there any foods you think you wouldn't mind if only it wasn't for its heinous texture?
Anything thick and creamy just kills me. Like think stews and what not. Also, if a cooked vegetable is super soft, i think its kind of gross. Like cooked onion or spinach and stuff. Blah! And you? |
I hate stringy things. Like something that doesnt quite rip when you bite it but instead, little tendrils squirm out... like cooked spinach or bok choy.
|
I don't like things that are overly fluffy, namely whipped cream. The last time I had some, I nearly threw up. Yoplait also has this line of whipped yogurt or something. I gagged on that. :p

I wouldn't mind bananas or apple sauce, but I can't stand that mushy feeling in my mouth.

I don't like fluffy or chunky foods that are immersed in to much water or some other liquid when they're not supposed to. Things like applesauce that is too watery or the such, I find that to be quite disgusting.
|
I don't like when they mix too many ingredients... I like to know what I'm eating.
|
Vegetables that are crunchy is what I usually can't stand, stuff like broccoli and carrots. I don't know why, but I just can't stand eating those types of vegetables when they're crunchy, which is usually when they are raw. I can usually manage to eat them when they are cooked in some way, though.
|
I don't like rubbery meat. Like when you eat a hamburger and part of the meat is rubbery, that just totally makes me sick. I guess since it reminds me of fat, which I can't stand AT ALL. I can't stand tomatoes or pickles either, but that's more taste than texture.
|
I can't think of much. I'll eat just about anything. I guess what bugs me the most is when I'm eating chicken or any red meat and I come across a clump of something in my mouth that's chewy. That's really not just a texture issue though. ;)

I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but trying to eat saucy stuff makes me want to barf. Waiting for gay joke |

Here's something else that makes me sick: things that are chopped or diced way too fine. I love seafood, but some restaurants seem to insist on grinding my meal into pulp. When I order shrimp alfredo, I usually assume it will come with whole shrimp in the pasta, not ground-up shrimp puree. Revolting! |
Oysters... I just can't seem to get over that slimy texture. I hear it actually taste pretty good but the textures..*shivers*

Oh, that sounds pretty nasty. I love Shrimp Alfredo, but I've yet to come across any ground-up shrimp. The lumpy texture of rice pudding is also pretty gross, even though the food itself is just plain delicious. In the end, the flavor won. :) |
I went out for Sushi once and decided to be adventurous and try something new. Not sure what it exactly was, but when I put the chunk of meat in my mouth, I was able to feel the little Cilia-like hairs surrounding it rubbing against my taste buds. Now THAT is a sensation provided by a texture I don't plan on picking up again anytime soon.

deep fried button mushrooms. I can't stand the slimy texture. It isn't the fact I am eating mold that disturbs me, because I like shitakes.
|
Canned tuna. Eeecch.
|
I dont like the slimy/snot feelings, or the rubber feeling like clams and stuff...yuck.
I like the super soft stuff that turns to mush :) |
Oh man, you read my mind.
Kidney beans. They taste alright, but the overly-giving squish when they get in your mouth makes me gag every time. But yeah, anything that doesn't really hold together in your mouth is a major food turnoff. I mean, if it's meant to squish, okay, but it's still kind of weird. There's just something off about food that can't stay together until you chew it or squish it against the top of your mouth with your tongue. |
