Are you referring to this? Castlevania 64 - OST < High Quality [FLAC] Soundtracks | Emuparadise.org

If so, that piece, which is actually an arrangement, took 1st place in week 234: http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/showthread.php?t=41902

ikkei May 9, 2012 04:40 PM

Urgh, it was exactly that what I wanted to nominate. I searched in the archive just with the castlevania tag, not akumajo dracula.

You can kiss me if you want btw, but first I should know why. Is it because of my avatar, or maybe what you really want is more Sailor Moon episodes to be uploaded to the server?

Anyway, next nomination:

Album: Guilty Gear OST
Artist: Daisuke Ishiwatari
Disc #: 1 (of 1)
Track #: 15
Track Title: Conclusion
Additional info: well, I will considerate this obscure since this Sol vs Ky theme was changed for Noon Tide and No Mercy in the better known secuels.

3 points: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Game Rip) - Factory Tour
2 points: METAL SLUG COMPLETE SOUND BOX - Stage 2
1 point: Black Tiger (Arcade Game Rip) - Wall of Flame (BGM 3)
dang son that kind of ruled: Alpha Protocol (Game Rip) - Main Title

Once upon a time I wrote fifteen million words about this piece of Kirby music, so I'll keep my remarks to ten million words this time. Since I made that post, the most recent Kirby soundtracks have made me rethink my taxonomy and what exactly it is I like about the soundtracks I like the most (Kirby music is the seriousest of business), but Factory Tour is still quite possibly my favorite piece of VGM ever written. It's ugly, beautiful, dismal, and hopeful, and on top of all that it still manages to capture everything that's good about Kirby music. I know I'm the only person in the galaxy who feels this way, but who cares. Can't 3 this hard enough.

Both Manabu Namiki and Mitsuhiro Kaneda arranged the Metal Slug 1 stage 2 theme, which is more than a man can dream of for one piece of music, but I still prefer the aggressiveness of the original. That Nazca guitar sample <33333

Man, I forgot how weird Black Tiger's soundtrack is. The phrasing in the stage 2 theme Tamayo what are you doing. Anyway, I seem to recall this version of the one melody being my favorite, so nice one.

Even leaving out my two enormous biaspicks, there were some grand choices this week. ^5

First week without one of my picks in a while and it's like the most me week ever. How did that even happen? I QUITE enjoyed this week g00d J08 FELLOWs

CHz SUMS up most of what I would want to say except he omitted the out the ODD TIME SIGNATURSE ARTHE BSTE and FM STYNTH IS THE BEST and other stuff.

it was v e r y _ h a r d to distribute points for this week to me, I wanted to support all 4 of these but I COULDn'T DECIDE WHICH ONE I LIKED BEST. Going with this for NOW.

orion_mk3 May 10, 2012 10:41 AM

Age Of Pirates: Caribbean Tales Original Game Soundtrack - Town Life Ooh, dat oboe. Oboe or pizzicato strings in my town themes always guarantees a favorable reception from me, especially when it's all pastoral like here. A very nice surprise, especially since I was expecting it to be all swashbuckly.

Alpha Protocol (Game Rip) - Main Title This was composed by BT with an assist from the firm of Graves & Abernathy, which means that the electronics and the not-electronics are both on a rock-solid foundation, and also kick six kinds of ass. It's too bad that everyone hated this game for no reason and it never got a soundtrack release, because it's chock full of good stuff like this.

Black Tiger (Arcade Game Rip) - Wall of Flame (BGM 3) Fun, synthy, and short. Like Baby Mario.

Bonesaw: The Soundtrack - brake the ice Who's ready? BONESAW IS READY.[/spiderman] Ready for icy, quasi-noir that never really goes anywhere, I guess.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Game Rip) - Factory Tour I've never seen CHz get so emotional about a song before :tpg: It definitely doesn't sound like your run of the mill cutesy-poo Kirbymusik; I was reminded of "Smithy's Factory" from SMRPG.

METAL SLUG COMPLETE SOUND BOX - Stage 2 THE FACT THAT IT'S A COMPLETE SOUND BOX IS SO EXCITING THEY HAVE TO SHOUT IT TO THE RAFTERS. It's kinda jazzy and kinda funky, but not really metal or sluggish.

Mighty Final Fight (Game Rip) - Riverside (Round 2) Sounds like a reject from Mega Man 4. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on the comparison being made, really.

Xuanyuan Jian 5: The Adventure in Shanhai World Music Collection - The Green Dragon Kingdom (String and Wind Version) It is only a matter of time before every song from this series has been nominated. I think we're at 97% or so now. As far as pastoral stuff with a strong touch of the Orient goes, it gets the job done.

The Point Spread
Main Tittie - 3 pts.
Town 4 Lyfe - 2 pts.
Green Draggin'- 1 pt.

Nomination
Album: Squids
Artist: Roman Gauthier
Track #: 3

THE ABSOLUTE SERIOUSESTEST OF BUSINESS

Also I believe you remember the Summer Lights incident, which totally counts even though it was the opposite emotion.

(3 points) Mighty Final Fight (Game Rip) - Riverside (Round 2): If this were in Mega Man 4, I'd be having a nostalgasm right now.

(2 points) Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Game Rip) - Factory Tour: Our professional Kirby lobbyist has persuaded me to fast track this bill to the legislative floor.

(1 point) METAL SLUG COMPLETE SOUND BOX - Stage 2: Enjoyed it. Not much more to say.

I've only scratched the surface! :D And I recall someone requesting for music from the main games! :D But I am running low on nominations and desperate times call for desperate measures, so... Hopefully, some new oriental material will be on their way in time. :D

3 points: Factory Tour

Just missed: Brake the Ice
I must also give a solid nod to Town Life.

As for my nomination, I'm gonna have to think about it. Best Song Contest 2012 just now starting up has got me thinking about what tracks I want to nominate there and what songs I want to save for nominations here. Hmmm...

Just Missed: Town Life, The Green Dragon Kingdom (String and Wind Version)

Hell yeah, that dated Capcom arcade sound.

An admittance to my terrible state of being years ago: the Stage 2 theme used to be my least favorite of the original Metal Slug stage themes. As of recent, it's probably my most listened to. Killer.

An admittance to my terrible state of being right now: As much as I <33333 Factory Tour and those crazy piano cluster thingies near the end, goddamn Main Title was fresh. Had to give it another point over the Kirby track.

Pretty good week.

So much chippin' this week. I mustn't have got the SotF newsletter.

Really good week, in particular that "Wall of Flame" track. Instant love.

Really wanted to give Factory Tour a point, but it turns out that I'm not as enthusiastic about it as CHz. Also didn't feel like having Riverside missing out on a point, even though it would sound better without running through an equalizer. Good week. I'm surprised orion nominated something good. :D

Quick votes:

(3 points) Xuanyuan Jian 5: The Adventure in Shanhai World Music Collection - The Green Dragon Kingdom (String and Wind Version)

(2 points) Mighty Final Fight (Game Rip) - Riverside (Round 2)

(1 point) Age Of Pirates - Caribbean Tales Original Game Soundtrack - Town Life

Opfer May 28, 2012 03:22 PM

Hmm, why not vote, I guess...

3 Points: Bonesaw: The Soundtrack - brake the ice
I can really get into downtempo every once in a while. It may be somewhat repetitive and minimalistic but I really dig the melody and overall soundscape.

2 Points: Mighty Final Fight (Game Rip) - Riverside (Round 2)
Just some catchy chiptune, not much else to say there. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still solid.

1 Point: Alpha Protocol (Game Rip) - Main Title
Even though being devoid of melody usually isn't my cup of tea, I somewhat dig the harsh, glitchy sound of this track.

Not too much of a fan of this week overall...
