Wiki upgrade is complete. CHz, I PM'ed you details.

orion_mk3 Oct 2, 2011 02:24 PM

Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack 'Routine' - Nagi's Theme Fun and quirky Kikuta-esque funk.

Assault Rigs (PSX Red Book Audio) - Steam 1 Uh oh. Nuh uh. Uh oh. Nuh uh. Uh oh. Nuh uh. Uh oh.

Create Original Videogame Score - Skate Park Shuffle Create might be a lame and shameless attempt to cash in on LBP, but the music's great. This one especially has a lot of movement, melody, and funk to spare.

Knights in the Nightmare Perfect Audio Collection - Battle in the Royal Crypt It has all the ingredients for an epic SRPG sound, but the overall result lis less than the sum of its parts.

Ninja Baseball Bat Man (Game Rip) - Stage 1 - In Seattle Hit me. Whoo. Whoo. Oh yeah. Whoo. Whoo. Oh yeah.

Power Stone 2 (Dreamcast Game Rip) - Extra Stage 2 Nothing says "anime fighting game" quite like laid-back jazz muzak.

starmine - bass 2 bass -Remo-con Tech Dance Remix- Sorry, nominator, but this hyper-repetitive house/trance/same two notes for 20 minutes music is like watching linoleum curl unless you're on uppers and surrounded by neon laser beams.

www dot newgrounds dot com - Final Encounter Aims high, but is kinds tinny and anemic.

The Point Spread
Skate Park Shuffle - 3 pts.
Nagi's Theme - 2 pts.
Battle in the Royal Crypt - 1 pt.

Noms to come.

Hi guys. I'm new here so I'm not familiar with the nomination process. I'd like to nominate the following tracks:
  • Game: The Battle for Wesnoth
  • Artist: Doug Kaufmann
  • Title: The City Falls
  • Year: 2007
  • Additional Information: The game is open-source so you can download it with all the music files from the website: Battle for Wesnoth.
  • Source: Game file music tags
  • Game: Divine Divinity
  • Artist: ?????? ?????????? [Kirill Pokrovsky]
  • Track Number: 21
  • Title: A Wind of Aleroth
  • Year: 2002
  • Additional Information: The soundtrack can be downloaded for free from the composer's website: kirill pokrovsky's dream-age page
  • Source: Divine Divinity - VGMdb
  • Game: Terranigma
  • Artist: Masanori Hikichi and/or Miyoko Kobayashi [I don't know exactly]
  • Title: Elle's Theme
  • Year: 1995
  • Additional Information: I don't think this track was ever officially released outside the game but it is commonly referred to as Elle's Theme. You can listen to it on YouTube: Terranigma OST - Elle's Theme - YouTube

Do I have to upload the tracks now? I don't know how to get hold of the Terranigma one.

Welcome! Always good to see new participants.

You have got the nomination thing down pretty good. Normally we only nominate one song at a time, so you might want to re-post those other two when their time comes.

You can if you want. I wouldn't worry about Terranigma though; if CHz doesn't have a copy he can find one from such a well-liked game with his mad leet VGM hunting skillz.

3 points: Stage 1 - In Seattle
2 points: Extra Stage 2
1 point: Skate Park Shuffle
just missed: Steam 1, 0:52-1:26 of Final Encounter (I really didn't like the rest of it)

This Ninja Baseball Bat Man track is AMAZING. My favorite this about this is that behind the... whatever the hell is going on, there's a pretty real bass groove and a solo at 1:06 that's legit. Where do you find this stuff, Draconis?

Noms coming soon hopefully

THE POWER OF WATER Oct 8, 2011 02:12 AM

I'd love to be able to close voting in the next couple of days if possible, so if you would vote that'd be great. I'm looking at the calendar to schedule a possible Halloween theme week and we can fit in another batch between now and then.

23:58 <@CHz> Anyway this is the true BSC '012 winner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI6eXEgZXdg
00:02 <&Tails> lol I hate you
00:02 <&Tails> a lot
00:02 <@CHz> looooooooooooooooooooooool
00:03 <@CHz> I just nominated this to SotW. 8)
00:04 <&Tails> You are awful

I love this thing because even if you strip away the voice clips, sound effects, and orchestra hit abuse, you still have pure beat 'em up kickassery. Also the final "awww yeah" is for some reason either an aroused female or an infant.

A point for Herbie Hancock 1 was an inevitability.

Additional Spam:
ALSO some nominations would be cool too, as neat as it would be for me and Kaleb to duel next week.

Duck King Oct 8, 2011 05:29 AM

This week was pretty epic!

Okay, here you go. We'll see if the bitter taste of defeat has a unique aftertaste this time around:

Album: Ten Plants
Artist: Ymoh. S
Track #: 4
Track Title: Kurolera the Production Plant Chief
Year: 1998
Additional Info: Original concept album featuring VGM composers.

Elorin Oct 9, 2011 10:31 AM

Here's a normal week nomination:

* Album Title: Heavy Rain (Game Rip)
* Artist: Normand Corbeil
* Track Title: Opening movie
* Source: Heavy Rain - Opening movie - PS3 - YouTube ; Heavy Rain Original Videogame Score - VGMdb
* File Location: Nominations folder
* Disc Number: NA
* Track Number: NA
* Catalogue Number: NA
* Year: 2010
* Note: I recorded this from a YouTube upload of the opening movie from the game. The opening theme has elements of the Ethan Mars' main theme from the soundtrack and a piano variation of it.

Here's a Halloween/spooky theme week nomination (er, hope it qualifies since this is a theme for a nightmarish character and has some kind of spooky sections):

* Album Title: NiGHTS ~Journey of Dreams~ Original Soundtrack
* Artist: Hideaki Kobayashi
* Composer: Tomoko Sasaki
* Track Title:
* Source: WWCE-31153~5 | NiGHTS ~Journey of Dreams~ Original Soundtrack - VGMdb
* File Location: Nominations folder
* Disc Number: 1 (of 3)
* Track Number: 22
* Catalogue Number: WWCE-31153~5
* Year: 2008

isdapi Oct 9, 2011 01:05 PM

This week's bunch is nothing to write about.

<<3 Points>> Create Original Videogame Score - Skate Park Shuffle
<<2 Points>> Power Stone 2 (Dreamcast Game Rip) - Extra Stage 2
<<1 Point>> Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack 'Routine' - Nagi's Theme

If I have time later, I may nominate something.

Kaleb.G Oct 9, 2011 11:01 PM

SotW website/wiki is down currently while I fix a botched MySQL upgrade.

In the meantime, votes:
3 pts - Knights in the Nightmare Perfect Audio Collection - Battle in the Royal Crypt
2 pts - Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack 'Routine' - Nagi's Theme
1 pt - Assault Rigs (PSX Red Book Audio) - Steam 1

:(: Assault Rigs (PSX Red Book Audio) - Steam 1

"Nagi's Theme" makes me wanna dance and makes me feel so nostlagic for the 90's. dat cheeseguitar+synth combo. The piano in "Battle in the Royal Crypt" took me by surprise, in a good way I think. The steam track was bitchin'. AW YEAH needed more AW YEAH. also I just in general approve of the starmine track. The last track was terrible, needed more chipmunk vocals or something.

Cool week. Sloppy comments.

Halloween nom coming soon! I gotta listen to the American McGee's Alice OST for starters...

Chuckster Oct 10, 2011 11:12 AM

Short on comments, maybe I get to a Halloween nom. Feeling much better about participation in a week or two when life calms down slightly.

(3 points) www dot newgrounds dot com - Final Encounter
(2 points) Knights in the Nightmare Perfect Audio Collection - Battle in the Royal Crypt
(1 point) Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack 'Routine' - Nagi's Theme

So the brutal serial killer music is normal, and the colorful G-rated Saturn game is spooky? Just making sure I have this straight :)

Elorin Oct 11, 2011 11:59 AM

Yes, orion. :P The Heavy Rain nom is more sad drama music than spooky scarefest music. And the NiiGHTs nom is kind of a creepy yet awesome Phantasy Star Online rip off track.

Okay, quick votes:

(2 points) Knights in the Nightmare Perfect Audio Collection - Battle in the Royal Crypt

(2 points) www.newgrounds.com - Final Encounter

(1 point) Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack 'Routine' - Nagi's Theme

(1 point) Create Original Videogame Score - Skate Park Shuffle

THE POWER OF WATER Oct 15, 2011 04:38 PM

So heads up: my modem exploded Tuesday night, which kind of fouled up plans on my end as you may be able to imagine. Replacement should be coming on Tuesday.

It appears I didn't miss much, which I guess is simultaneously good and bad.

Muzza Oct 19, 2011 01:07 AM

Doesn't look like the Halloween theme week is gonna fly, huh. :( one of these years it will happen

In any case, I've got a nom which can fly as a theme week nom or regular week nom.

Nomination #71

Composer: Prophecy
Game: Escape from the Underworld
Track Title: Back To The Place I Once Knew
Track Number: 4
Year: 2010
Catalog Number: N/A

THE POWER OF WATER Oct 20, 2011 05:20 AM

Welllllll so technically the modem did arrive on Tuesday, but due to hilarity I can't really get into without raging furiously we were only able to get shit activated and such at midnight. But now I'm back!

I was kind of hoping that no one was nominating anything because I never officially said we were doing it! I was planning on closing this "fortnight" on Sunday and then getting things going in the next thread, but due to AAAAAAAARGH that plan went right out the window.

So the options for getting some Halloween action on seem to be:
  • Extend this "fortnight" until Sunday while we try to drum up some Halloween noms, and then run a fortnight theme batch from the 24th to Nov. 6.
  • End this "fortnight" ASAP, have a batch that lasts less than a fortnight start tomorrowish and end on the 30th in which we gather Halloween noms, and then promptly start the theme batch on Halloween.
I am kind of leaning toward the latter because it gives more time to put together Halloween tracks, but then I'd have to be really strict on when we close voting and knowing us we'd probably end up with like three votes. I won't end up doing anything about this until tomorrow evening, so if you're reading this between now and then, your input is appreciated!

Hahaha wow, this was used in a game?

You didn't specifically mention it so I'm not sure if you're really unaware or are just being coy, but this is an arrangement of the first Maridia theme ("Rocky Underground Water Area") from Super Metroid. It used to be on VGMix and definitely was not made for this game.

It is my favorite arrangement by Prophecy though so ^5.

Muzza Oct 21, 2011 04:07 AM

Man I knew none of that. :tpg: Such a shame, it is a kickass track. So ignore that nom post; I'll nom something else for Halloween soon.

As for which option, I also think the second one is probably better. I would make sure I voted within the week, personally, so there's one vote already! Anyway umm ok here's a normal nom:

Nomination #71

Composer: Wilbert Roget, II
Album: Songs for the Cure '11: Esuna
Track Title: Ebenebe Ga Egbu
Track Number: 01
Year: 2011
Catalog Number: JWMUSIC.ORG RFL11-B
Additional Information: This should be eligible, shouldn't it? I mean, this man has composed music for games, he's not just an OCRemixer.

I bought the album the other week but it's on a computer to which I don't have access at the moment, so I am cheating and uploading a 128CBR track ripped from the bandcamp page. :erm: so yes, TO THE FTP (again)

Okay but in the next thread I'm going to make fun of you until you fix that.

Also we are going with option #2, so LET THE GREAT EXPERIMENT BEGIN

1). [10/6.5] Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni Original Soundtrack "Routine" - Nagi's Theme
2). [10/5.5] Knights in the Nightmare Perfect Audio Collection - Battle in the Royal Crypt
3). [8/5] Create Original Videogame Score - Skate Park Shuffle
4). [8/4] Ninja Baseball Bat Man (Game Rip) - Stage 1: In Seattle
5). [7] Power Stone 2 (Dreamcast Game Rip) - Extra Stage 2
6). [5] www.newgrounds.com - Final Encounter
7). [3/3] Assault Rigs (PSX Red Book Audio) - Steam 1
8). [3/2] starmine - bass 2 bass -Remo-con Tech Dance Remix-

Muzza Oct 21, 2011 06:15 AM

! "Nagi's Theme" won?! Is this the first time one nominator has single-handedly retired a soundtrack? "afternoon theme" was one of my first noms and got 2nd; "fun time" got 1st in that whimsical week; and now this one somehow scored first. yay doors!

Also you bully :mad: OK it's now in the FTP with delicious beat-thumping sound quality.
