I wouldn't say that the Village, War of the Worlds, or Saw were horrible. They range from meh to decent. They also spoof Brokeback Mountain.

Watashi_Baka_Da Apr 14, 2006 08:40 PM

I seriously doubt this is the last chapter. This one does look better than the third...that's a relief.

Is that a Ghetto Kitty band aid?

vuigun Apr 14, 2006 09:16 PM

The messed up thing with this Scary Movie and the third is the way they try to blend all of these Movie Parodies together in one movie. I haven't watched the fourth but I know it will be just as crazy as the fourth.

I miss scary Movie 1 and 2. Where they had one storyline and just made the jokes flow with it.

Yeah, I liked it better when it had the storyline too.

Summonmaster Apr 14, 2006 11:15 PM

The last one I really liked was 2. For some reason, I didn't find 3 as funny as the first two; I don't think there were enough jokes. I hope 4 is better, since I'm still lured by the commercials to watch it. I didn't even know it was out until 30 minutes ago!

LizardSC Apr 14, 2006 11:49 PM

This one seems to be a mere extension of Scary Movie 3. Personally, I'd like to see the series return to the absolute raunchiness that was Scary Movie 1. I can't believe the first one escaped with only an R rating; it was really explicit, and made the new ones seem tame by comparison.

vuigun Apr 15, 2006 12:06 AM

Well, the same guys who made the First and Second Scary Movie don't do it anymore (I believe is was the Waynes Bros. and Someone else maybe).

So, pretty much, they just handed the series over to a hick and now we get the humor you see here today. It can't really get better.

KCJ506 Apr 15, 2006 01:34 AM

Believe it or not but Scary Movie 5 is already being talked about.

I actually didn't know it was being released until the other day. With nothing to do on friday I decided to hop in the first showing. Honestly I wasn't expecting much but a few parts were pretty funny. Still it doesn't beat part one in the least.

Though..
{spoiler} One thing that bugged me:
was how fast Charlie Sheen's character was killed off practically in the beginning of the movie :(.

Kolba Apr 15, 2006 01:57 AM

Why is a huge part of the marketing and hype of these films based around whatever is being spoofed therein? If I was made to go and see it I should imagine I'd be distracted ticking off some mental checklist. "Oh yes, that just spoofed that bit in that film". It's just horribly by the numbers.

Sian Apr 15, 2006 10:33 AM

The thing with the Scary Movie films is that I can only enjoy them if i'm with a group of friends. For me they're very much a "one time view only" type of film, i've only wanted to watch the first one again but the other 2 just seemed a bit silly to watch again and actually laugh as much as I did the first time round.

I don't think i'll rush out to see this one, i'll probably hear all the jokes from everyone who has seen it already at college or something.

vuigun Apr 15, 2006 10:37 AM

Kolba....Uh...Scary Movie is a Spoof series. I don't know what other movies you're talking about but the Scary Movie Franchise was made specifically to spoof films.

It's just this David Zucker guy is pissing on the franchise and taking the whole spoof thing too far. I'm guessing he doesn't have any other "Profession" to fall back on.

Everybody does love the Scary Movie series though, so they could go up to 10 and still have people avidly watch it (even though they would complain too).

Kolba Apr 15, 2006 11:21 AM

Yes I know what the aim of a spoof is. I think I just prefer a reference to jump out at me unexpected like, rather than me waiting there for the bit where this film is spoofed, the bit where that film is spoofed, etc.

This all began with that fucking scene in The Matrix.

vuigun Apr 15, 2006 11:43 AM

No, they started dramatizing it at Scary Movie 3.

Really, after Scary Movie 2, they barely attempt to get other jokes out but the spoofs. David Zuckerman is to blame. He basically killed the series. They put all the spoofs in the commercials because there's no other meat to the movie.

Summonmaster Apr 15, 2006 12:30 PM

Yeah, putting the spoofs in the commercials was the reason I disliked it. When I went to watch 3, I was frequently thinking: "oh ya, the part in the commercial," and there was nothing much funny other than the parts I already saw on TV.

So has anyone actually watched it yet?

RABicle Apr 15, 2006 12:34 PM

Can anyone confirm if Dr Phil is in fact in this movie?

vuigun Apr 15, 2006 12:43 PM

I'm curious if Debra Wilson is playing Oprah.

But I always wondered if that was the real Dr. Phil in the movie. It just seems so much like him.

Double Post:
Well, looking at this cast list here. It really is him O_O

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362120/

Buizel Apr 15, 2006 02:46 PM

Yes, Dr. Phill was in the movie... because I (with my brither and cousins) went to go see it yesterday.
<_<

Overall it was good and yes it's one of those film that you HAVE to go see with friends/more than 4 people groups.

Spoiler:
The best/funny part that I literally "LOL" is when they try to speak "Japanese".

Kimchi Apr 15, 2006 03:52 PM

Oh yes, Dr.Phil and his wrong foot >.>

Spoiler:
SUSHI,BUDDA,DAMURIA,TEMPRA "Your Japanese is so horrible it dishonourns my ear"

It was funny and all... but... too many "sex" related scenes in the movie. I didn't like those parts. (Such as the tentacle from tripod + vaccum cleaner, not going to say more since too many to mention.) Oh, those two gay blacks? I found it disturbing.

And crap, I will update the cast list and all.(Help me out, I don't know which ones to add... only important ones or ALL of them?)

This is the same guy who directed Airplane!, Naked Gun 1 and 2. Plus his other movies are pretty much parody movies as well.

I guess I'll see this one, I haven't seen the third one yet.

Tama8-chan Apr 16, 2006 01:56 AM

I'm actually surprised Dr Phil would even be in a film like this.

And as lame as the movie is, I think that's the point.
I've seen the 3rd one, but I haven't seen the first 2.
I find the posters for 4 absolutely hilarious though.

I'm gonna see this prolly next week.

joshi Apr 16, 2006 10:01 AM

the first two are awful, awful movies. why all the dick jokes? Scary Movie 3 was so clever and on. it's hilarious. I can only hope that Scary Movie 4 will be the same. and it looks like it will. I love how Brenda dies in almost every movie and she's always alive in the next one.

Shenlon Apr 16, 2006 10:12 AM

I only enjoyed the first movie. The other ones I found to be stupid with too many randoms spoofs and jokes. The celebrity jokes aern't as good as they could have been either. I havn't watched the 4th one but I don't have high hopes for it. Parody movies are not as good as they used to be.

The first 2 were definitely more clever than Scary Movie 3 ever could have been.

Scary Movie 3 didn't have as much "meat" as Scary Movie 1 and 2 did. Scary Movie 3 didn't have that much humor in it other than the spoofs you saw coming.

I found Scary Movie 1 to have the most comedy. If you feel Scary Movie 3 is clever than that's fine with me. But to me, it seemed like draining out what's left of a dead movie franchise. I'd hate the see how less acheiving Scary Movie 4 will actually be compared to the already dry Scary Movie 3.
