Orange Juice

Tropicana or Florida's Natural?

I find that most local brands of orange juice suck, and thusly shouldn't be counted.

Florida's Natural all the way for me. Tropicana just tastes too sour.

Neogin Apr 13, 2006 06:16 PM

Ohh, what a silly poll. You're silly.

Tropicana for me. I grew up with Tropicana, and well, it's my favorite brand. Tropicana is usually perfect for me, though. Plus, the pulp-free, is well, actually free of pulp. (Don't get me wrong, I love orange juice with pulp.)

Acro-nym Apr 13, 2006 06:20 PM

I hadn't had orange juice in a while. Then they had samples of Tropicana at the store. I liked it so much that I got a carton of the stuff. If that doesn't show greatness, I don't what does.

andkeener Apr 13, 2006 06:23 PM

I'm all about Tropicana, I like how sour it is. And medium pulp please, thanks. It's the best OJ around, although in the summer time, when I'm looking for something thats a little more juice, and a little less orange, Sunny D is where it's at.

the purple stuff rox too

Freelance Apr 13, 2006 06:24 PM

This is an easy one. Tropicana. I just LOVE the stuff. I'd buy a lot more of them if only they weren't so expensive.

Hey, I love pulp in my OJ, but not many people do. Do you guys like pulp? The more pulp, the better it is for me!

Rockgamer Apr 13, 2006 06:41 PM

Since I've never even heard of Florida's Natural (never seen it in stores), I guess I'll just pick Tropicana by default. There's a lot more non-local brands that aren't on here though, like Minute Maid and Simply Orange.

Alice Apr 13, 2006 06:41 PM

I prefer Florida's natural, but really. If you want to taste a little cup of heaven, try this stuff. It blows all other orange juice out of the cosmos.

Of those two Tropicana but really I prefer Donald Duck brand. It's about the cheapest stuff on the market and it's oh so tasty.

JackTheRipper Apr 13, 2006 09:35 PM

Tropicana is the way to go. No pulp of course. Florida's Natural is too tangy. I like it a little on the sweeter side.

Dullenplain Apr 13, 2006 11:26 PM

I suppose Tropicana since that brand I'm more familiar with.

Usually I buy the store brand orange juice because I'm cheap like that. I'm a fan of pulp too; it gives some depth to the drink. I find drinking OJ straight has too much sweetness/tang so I tend to dilute it with water: 1 part OJ to 1 part water. That way I can stretch it out a little longer.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 14, 2006 08:10 AM

We don't get that Florida stuff over here and Tropicana is overpriced, needlessly sweetened shite.

As threads go, this is pretty fucking terrible you know. Two brand threads don't generally encourage much discussion and tend to lead to multiple parody threads...

There are a couple Tropicana varieties that I can't stand, namely the Kid's blend they have, but I really love most of their other ones. I don't know if this is just a mental thing, but the Tropicana Anniversary orange juice tastes great. I don't know. The cool bottle might be playing tricks on my mind.

Oh, and the presence of pulp doesn't bother me. I like my orange juice with and without pulp. :)

If there's one brand of orange juice I can't stand, it's Deans. That stuff is thick and gross.

Every time I've had Simply Orange it's been fantastic, though I hardly ever buy it since stores near me never put it on sale. :(

Also, for Sunny D: Original or California style?

Bishounen Bitch Apr 14, 2006 07:49 PM

Are you still at Pitt, RR? There should be a Giant Eagle somewhere nearby and they have Simply Orange on sale quite often; generally 2 for $4 or $5 which is reasonable for the quality of OJ you're getting.

Definitely Original style. It's been a long time since I tried California style, so I don't remember what it tastes like, but I remember that I didn't like it when I tried. Since then, I've only gotten Original, which I usually get most of the time over regular orange juice.

California style is my favorite ^_^ original tastes too sour sometimes. It gives you canker sores in your mouth.

Double Post:
I used to love that Tropicana commercial from a LONG time ago where they just stuck a straw in the orange!

I tried it once when I was little and it didn't work...but my dad did buy me the juice box thing that was an orange with the green straw in it! ^_^

Arkhangelsk Apr 14, 2006 11:53 PM

The only deal with Tropicana is they have like, 25 different variations of OJ >_>... I used to hate pulp, but I've gotten to where I actually kind of prefer a little. My grandma gets the "Homestyle" kind, and I really like that.

If only the stupid Minute Maid machine would work in my dorm common area, I could get some juice -- from concentrate, but hey. It's still juice.

The Giant Eagle in Oakland just closed down a few weeks ago, so now I have to bus to another one way further down fifth, so I don't buy many liquids at the store anymore (pretty much stick to water and Crystal Lite now). I guess I never really noticed sales on Simply Orange since by the time I got to the part of the store with it I had already stocked up on a lot of the things I needed and didn't have much more weight I could carry.

(And it's CMU, not Pitt. :p)

I remember that I used to love that stuff when I was younger, namely the original flavor. I eventually grew out of it though, as I was starting to get annoyed by the slightly gritty feel it left in my mouth.

JasonTerminator Apr 15, 2006 02:39 AM

Well, I live in Florida. We have a fucking special section just for OJ in our supermarkets, so there's like 50 different choices.

That said, I can't really taste the difference between brands. I just like a ton of pulp. That shit is GOOD.

Synthesis Apr 15, 2006 04:43 PM

I prefer Tropicana. It's a lot more tangy than Florida's Natural in my opinion.

Ewwww..pulp is nasty! I am from florida too.:aargh:

Lady Miyomi Apr 16, 2006 11:00 PM

It doesn't matter to me because I like both. However, I'd probably pick Tropicana. I tend to drink the ones that have all the orange parts in them.

Ryuu Apr 19, 2006 04:18 PM

So...I guess Sunny D doesn't count then...

Well, I drink Tropicana - it's good, sweet too. Love it.

nazpyro Apr 19, 2006 04:45 PM

As said, where's Sunny D? ;_; What about that purple stuff?

Anyway, I'm all about no pulp in my OJ, so I choose Tropicana.
