Damnit Bamco, take my money. All of it. (Some of you fags need to go play VESPERIA)

So FINALLY after an 'ordeal' of various teasing images, with fanboys and girls wondering if this was actually Bamco trolling the North American population, and musings of 'I'll never buy a Namco Bandai game again'... It's official:

Tales of Graces-f - Namco Bandai

...It's about time.

Single Elbow Feb 2, 2011 04:20 PM

By soon they mean in a couple of years.

Just relieved they made up their mind nonetheless.

Sousuke Feb 2, 2011 04:26 PM

inb4 the release date is 2013 and the world ends before it comes out

Freelance Feb 2, 2011 04:38 PM

My younger sister is in a rage over it, because she got it already for Christmas along with Tales of Vesperia, and now there's a rumor ToV is coming here too. Ah well, at least we'd get to play both in advance before they get released here.

Sousuke Feb 2, 2011 04:43 PM

I'd have considered importing it, but I don't understand Moon Runes so there'd be no point, really.

There's been 'rumours' about ToV PS3 being localized for a while now, but I haven't really heard anything about it for a long time. Is there any merit to the rumours this time around?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Feb 2, 2011 04:56 PM

Those distorted, swishy fishy images were the largest troll ever. I'm glad they finally said something about it after all the teases with the Galaga sprites and whatnot.

Hopefully soon means "2011", but I won't hold my breath.

I adore how the page's title says :[P

Don't really care for Graces, I want PS3 Vesperia.

Freelance Feb 2, 2011 10:21 PM

Both games have walkthroughs and translated scripts so it's all good. My sister and I play together but with her school and all, it's hard for her to find time to play.

Yes, there were distorted images of ToV too, or so my sister says.

Sousuke Feb 3, 2011 02:20 AM

Yeah, Vesperia's logo/text was mixed in there on one of the days, but each day seemed to have something different. Pac-man was in there one day, for example.

Translation work just started a few weeks ago (less than a month total). It may be possible for them to finish and have it out by 2011 but 2012 might be more likely.

Zeta26 Feb 4, 2011 10:55 AM

where'd you hear that they started to translate the game?

I know some people who are doing the translation over at 8-4.

Edit: Something interesting from Siliconera.

Since no platform(s) were announced I asked Iwai to clarify if Tales of Graces F would be released on PlayStation 3 and Wii. "We’ll see. We’re working on it. We’ll make the announcement later on."

Excellent another tales game to look forward to.

I've only ever had to chance to play:

Tales of Phantasia
Tales of Legendia
Tales of the Abyss

All three games I enjoyed immensely. I kind of feel grateful that I got the limited edition of Vesperia on XBOX 360 when I did. That game is hell of expensive on ebay. I can't wait to play it because I've heard great things about it.

Regardless of when Tales of Graces comes up it will be first release purchase for me.

My personal suggestion: swap out Legendia with Symphonia.

You know I would, but I haven't played Tales of Symphonia yet even though I own it.

I have a high tolerance for bad games, so I managed to bear through it so much I loved the english voice acting just for bad hilarity sake.

You know, I've never played ToL and the reason I haven't isn't because of all the bad things I kept hearing about it. It's because it's single player only and that's not cool since I've played other Tales of games with my sister.

Anyway, pleeease play ToS. It's probably my favourite of them all although the only ones I've played were ToS, TotA and ToE.

I hate you so much right now.

A Streetcar Named Legendia only had one saving grace, and that was the Oresoren. You just can't go wrong with adorable otter people.

The bad things are warranted. Story sucks, characters are just plain ugh.

It's like Ar Tonelico story-wise.

LOL really.

Like AngelofLight, I've unusual high tolerance for bad games too. I'll definitely pick up on Legendia JUST TO SEE.

I've played Phantasia, Destiny and Eternia and still love Phantasia so much. I know I'm BEHIND. I'm currently bumrushing through Symphonia right now. I finally got the battle controls down and moderately thick skinned enough to tolerate the near KO hits more often (just by leveling up like mad).

But yeah, got Abyss, Legendia, Vesperia, and Radiant Mythology to go before I could tackle this one.

Omnislash124 Feb 6, 2011 11:17 AM

I would highly recommend that you avoid Legendia.

Tales of Legendia was the first Tales game that I had beaten, and it seriously made me begin to regret piling up Tales games in my backlog to beat. Then I played Symphonia and found it to be leaps and bounds better than Legendia and subsequently renwed my faith in the Tales series. The characters, the graphics, the voice acting, the music, the plot, the control, pretty much everything in Symphonia was better than in Legendia.

I'd hate to have played through another Tales games and then going back to Legendia.

Sousuke Feb 6, 2011 12:10 PM

I honestly didn't mind Legendia. Then again, I didn't play through most of it--that seemed to be my brother's job. I ended up watching him play through the game, but I didn't think it was that bad. I loved the music in it, though. Probably my favourite Tales game music so far. [Maybe because it was Sakuraba... While his music is great, it seems that when he does a Tales game he doesn't bring anything new to the table.]

I own all of the North American releases [except PS1's Destiny, but I have beaten it via rental], and while Vesperia is my favourite visually [it's just so damn pretty] I think Eternia easily holds my attention as 'favourite', closely followed by Abyss. :3:

I dove into Legendia right after finishing Abyss, which remains my favorite Tales story and second favorite Tales game behind Vesperia. I powered up to about halfway through the character quests before I just couldn't take any more, and for almost that entire time I couldn't have told you why I was still playing. Nearly all the characters are annoying, they're all dumb as rocks, the story is pretty bad, everyone has fabulous glowy fingernails, and the game saves 90% of the character development for the post-game. Oh, and everyone is incapable of hopping more than half an inch off the ground in battle. BUT...

You must really like those critters.

Anyway, I've heard good things about the ToL music although I've never listened to it. I have my doubts though. All of the games I have played had largely forgettable music, except for maybe a few tracks.

And I may be the only one who thinks TotA is way too long, which is odd I would imagine most people would want their RPGs to be long long.
