Started out poor but definitely got better with the second half of tracks. Overall, though, not the strongest of battle weeks.

Insector X - PARTY IN THEIR NEST (Imperial Underground) Still lots of synthy fun despite a stupid name.
Senko no Ronde DUO Sound Track - Birds Eye (Mika Drop 1) Bland across the board, one of our weakest recent winners. The Sims 2: Open For Business (Game Rip) - The Sims 2 NewWave Theme The novelty has worn off a bit, but still cute. Infiltrator - Infiltrator This benefitted from being in a weak week; listening to it now, I find it hard to imagine giving it points. Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM) Another really flavorless winner, with limp synth and weak quirk. Marching Grass on the Hill - Waterfall Easily one of the best songs to come through SotW in a while. Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon (Game Rip) - Vegas Baby! Still funky and fun. The Dog Island (Game Rip) - Credits Not a whole lot of substance, but the acoustic guitar helps carry things. The Point Spread Waterfall - 3 pts. Vegas Baby - 2 pts. NewWave - 1 pt. |

It's got an okay beat, but it's not very memorable. Senko no Ronde DUO Sound Track - Birds Eye (Mika Drop 1) Starts out good, then goes nowhere. The Sims 2: Open For Business (Game Rip) - The Sims 2 NewWave Theme Kind of neat, but too repetitive. Infiltrator - Infiltrator This isn't bad, but also not very memorable. Super Castlevania IV (Game Rip) - Secret Room (Bonus BGM) Not my thing. Marching Grass on the Hill - Waterfall Nice instruments, but it doesn't go anywhere with them. Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon (Game Rip) - Vegas Baby! Also not my thing. The Dog Island (Game Rip) - Credits Still like this one a good bit. And if Insector had gotten one less vote, it'd be three! Still, I am pulling for "Waterfall" to win this one---"Ryu-Hyo" lost its battle by a single vote and Acoustic Asturias really deserves a win. Quality is high in this battle. I don't like the first two tracks/winners, but everything else is definitely point-worthy. |

I know why I'm not giving these points, but they're still enjoyable: The Sims 2 NewWave Theme, Credits Only two of the tracks in this battle were my top picks, and I didn't give any points to three of the winners, but even so this is still an incredibly potent batch of winners. Then again, with the weeks we've been having recently, there's no way it wouldn't be. I'm wishy-washy and don't want to commit to saying that the past eight weeks were the best overall group in SotW history, but the past eight weeks were totally the best overall group in SotW history. Fantastic tunes, I hope the trend continues in the next eight weeks! |
