It will cost a lot more than a hundred dollars.

It will cost less than a good mobile phone.

A good moblie phone where in the US genarly doesnt cost too much more that 100.

Aardark Apr 10, 2006 09:45 PM

First of all, why don't you use a spell-checker or something? Secondly, the studio is taking pre-orders for a block consisting of three keys, and that alone costs approximately 120 dollars.

Arainach Apr 10, 2006 09:50 PM

Who the hell looks at their keyboard? I'll stick to a nice ergo any day.

Aardark Apr 10, 2006 09:58 PM

Many people prefer style over pure functionality. I'd personally take a Mac Mini over some ugly Alienware tower anyday.

That said, this keyboard also has plenty of functionality that your ergo won't have. Whether it's worth it depends on your particular needs, naturally. I personally could really use the possibility to easily switch between different alphabets (Russian, English, French, German... Japanese?).

Adamgian Apr 10, 2006 10:06 PM

I've seen it before, its a cool device, although I can't say I'm very trusting of a company that writes "sooo" on its website. Either way, I'll wait to see it in retailers and whatever happens with it. Could be interesting.

Stealth Apr 10, 2006 10:09 PM

You know, this is very old news. Years old even. :/

It is a cool keyboard though.

UltimaIchijouji Apr 10, 2006 10:14 PM

aku, learn English and read Engadget.

You'd have known this thing was announced years ago. Also, their three-key Optimus is already out with that hell-high pricetag.

The cost of a "good mobile phone" is probably more around 400-500 dollars. No joke. Better start saving your pennies now.

I personally don't think it's ever coming out due to all of the copyright issues its been having. Theres not even a real model yet, so don't get your hopes up.

OnlyJedi Apr 10, 2006 10:17 PM

I've seen it before, and its very cool, I'll admit. If I was a millionaire I'd buy one. Heck, if I was a millionaire I'd buy a bunch of them. But I'm not a millionaire, not even close, and this will be just to darn expensive to justify the cost. I'd rather use that money for a bigger monitor...you know, the thing you look at 99% of the time, instead of a keyboard you look at 1% of the time.

scotty Apr 10, 2006 10:24 PM

then buy the keyboard after you buy a new moniter:)

JasonTerminator Apr 10, 2006 11:11 PM

This keyboard is hot as hell, but I won't buy one until it gets around $150 or so.

I'm pretty happy with my Saitek Eclipse right now.

Fjordor Apr 10, 2006 11:30 PM

It's about time they fucking got this into production.
Gosh, I've been reading about this for almost a year now.
I think I'll get one, and use it to practice Japanese. I never really cared too much about ergonomics as it is though, since I type so expressively, so I might wait a while when they lower the price on this baby, and jack up the price on the "new and improved" keyboards.

That's purely software, not hardware. I routinely switch my keyboard between QWERTY and DVORAK, and I"ve used a Spanish Layout before. As I said - since every decent typer I've ever known doesn't look at the keys, a keyboard like this serves no good use to us.

scotty Apr 11, 2006 01:12 AM

I like how you can make a gaming mode, so it becomes easier to pickup the controls. I know I would use it when playing 2 player mame roms like UN Squadron so my friends know the player 2 controls. I love expensive novelty stuff, expesially if they come equipt with LEDS, these OLEDS for buttons excite me

Magic Apr 11, 2006 01:14 AM

Erm...just because you're good at typing in your native languagee doesn't necessarily mean it'll be any easier to type in a foreign language. I couldn't really justify buying one of these since I rarely, if ever, type with another alphabet, but I could definitely see this being useful in such situations. In any case, I'd probably just go with Das Keyboard if I was ever gonna buy a unique one.

I can't call with a keyboard, why compare those two?

Slash Apr 11, 2006 02:35 AM

I remember seeing that this thing is having copyright issues because someone came out with a similar board before.

nazpyro Apr 11, 2006 03:16 AM

Saw this almost a year ago too.

I'll be in the market for an awesome keyboard by the end of the year as I plan to dish out 10K for a new high-end system then. I already grabbed the Logitech G7 mouse and Xtrac Hybrid mousepad which revolutionzied my mousing experience. A new flavor in keyboard in style and feel is next as this keyboard goes to poo.

killmoms Apr 11, 2006 07:19 AM

I have the gadget envy for this keyboard... but I imagine that even by the end of this year (assuming it even comes out) it'll still be prohibitively expensive. Think, upwards of $1,000 expensive. I can't see how it could be much cheaper than that, honestly.
