My Sanctuary

Uhh. Just finished it. Hahaha. And I'm insanely proud of it so I'm showing it everywhere I possibly can >> There's no real comments I have for it. I just. love it. Which is a first ever in my case.

Whoa, the coloring is totally awesome! What medium is this? :D I see what you are trying to do with the perspective there, although I feel that her body is still too small in relation to her head and arms. The bodies alone feel like it could have been in an interesting perspective, however, the head destroys this illusion. Her right hand doesn't look finished. Her eyes seem to be a bit too far apart, but that's subtle.

Looks like you might have been using reference, although I am not too sure. Its still really nice though, I wish we see more high art/fine art type of stuff around here.

This work reminds me of X-Men. Someone with a psychic sense type of power just rousing up a force around her.

well I can certainly see why you love this, I'd be proud too if I were you~

the colour scheme is absolutely gorgeous, and despite the fact that proportions and shading is off in a few areas, I think the way you chose to colour it really gives it a stylistic feel that dismisses any realistic qualms it may have.

I think all it really needs is some highlights in the hair to give the illusion of individual strands here and there. just enough to make it look more like hair rather than a blob of colour.

@magi: I did it in Corel Painter IX. I've been trying to really figure out how to achieve a really paint-y look with my stuff, since I usually do cel-shading. I actually didn't use any reference, which is probably why the anatomy is so wonky XD But I tried. It was just an image that popped into my head after listening to Sanctuary/Passion by Utada Hikaru on repeat for an entire day. Haa. yeeah. I might still mess around with it a bit more to fix things up a bit. As for her right hand, I was havinga lot of trouble trying to color it and get it to look right. Which might explain why it looks like i failed so bad at it ahahahah.

@Mojougwe: haha. If there's anyone who it'd remind me of from x-men, it'd probably be storm. Like, waay old school storm ensemble.

@ava lilly: Why thank you haha. I've been getting a lot of compliments on the color scheme, which kind of makes me giggle because I picked them at semi-random. With the exception of the blue, I picked that out because I figured it'd help stick her out more against the orange background. But other than that, aall at random ahahah. As for the hair, I was experimenting with how to really get it to look more sleak, which is probably why it looks the way it does. It'll probably be something I'll mess around with more on the picture.

I like the hair. The cooling light blue is such a contrast to the red! I also think the detail at the sides of the clothes is beautiful. But, the nose seems awfully close the lips? Nonetheless, incredible job.

May i ask, are those jellyfish looking things in the background supposed to be something specific, or are you leaving that to our interpretation? :)

Wow! This is amazing. I really love the colors. The blue scarf thing looks just like an actual painting. The light on her face is also a very nice touch!
