Please Read Before Posting

Guidelines for posting and creating threads in The Kitchen:

Threads and replies must provide reasonable discussion. - This should be self-explanatory, by and large. But to break it down, if you introduce a topic, you must provide enough initial material to spur discussion. The first post is extremely important. "List" threads ,"What Is Your Favorite..." and "Recipe post" threads generally fail in this regard and will almost always be closed. If there's nothing much to discuss other than very basic answers, you should strongly consider not creating the thread in the first place.
The same is true for replies. Say something that's worth the time someone else invests in reading it.

*Note for those posting in “What is your favourite…” type threads: Do not reply with just an answer like:

“Burger King”
"Hmmm, never tried it.”
“Ugh, that food sucks.”

Back up your opinion with a reason of why you think that way. A single word answer doesn’t give other members much insight into the poster, and these posts will be deleted without warning. Members who continually make spammy/grossly off-topic posts will be warned via PM, and banned if the warning is ignored. Posts replying directly to spam posts will also be deleted along with them as they serve no purpose other than causing confusion once the offending post is gone.

Help out our foreign friends. - Gamingforce is visited by people from all over the globe and there's a likelihood that they all won't be familiar with your subject matter. If you're discussing particular products or specialty dishes, find an image and remote link it within your post, if possible. Otherwise, try to be as descriptive as you know how. Don't assume that everyone has shared the same cultural experiences. This will generate more replies and is a courteous act toward our global companions.

Search before creating new threads. - Near the top of the page is Gamingforce's taskbar which contains the "Search" option. Please use it. If a thread on the desired topic already exists, just reply to it. If it's a worthwhile response, nobody will mind an old thread being bumped. If duplicate threads are found, they will either be merged or the newer thread will be closed, allowing the older one to keep its original glory.

No one or two word replies. - If you have that little to say, it's probably not worth posting. Short answer posts with no further comments are considered spam and will be removed. This has been a problem in The Kitchen before and a no-tolerance policy is now in effect. If you see a post like this, please report it; a moderator will remove it at his/her earliest convenience.

Several types of posts that will not be tolerated are those consisting of:

"Me too"
"Haha, that's funny."
"Sorry I can't help"
"Thank you for sharing"
"This thread is stupid and should be closed/moved"

These posts add nothing to the topic and the last example causes an unwelcoming atmosphere, especially when four or five members say exactly the same thing when the reader is obviously not blind. Member moderation is highly discouraged, but a friendly pointer by one member as an afterthought on an on-topic post is understandable.

As always, the general board rules about friendliness and flaming apply to The Kitchen as well. Debate is perfectly fine but don't get carried away with hostility. This forum is not the place for flame wars and all hostile remarks will be swiftly removed without warning and their posters shall be dealt with accordingly.

Are we still allowed the occasional satirical imitation thread if it's done in an entirely positive and clever way?

Obviously I'm gonna concentrate on creating awesome new threads but the occasional spoof never hurt anyone, right?

Why did the name of this forum get changed from "The Kitchen" to "The Fast Food or Packaged Garbage Food Cupboard"? The name is too restrictive, because where can we talk about food that isn't packaged or garbage? =/

Sir VG Mar 8, 2006 01:45 PM

But who makes such a thing anymore?

Some people around here really do cook real food: Me, Qwarky, Shin...I'm sure there are others.

"The Kitchen" is just a more encompassing name, I think.

Fair enough. I was under the impression that the sub forum title was a joke based on the fact that many people here don't cook real food.

I just figure the title is in jest so post about real meals, if you want to:D

Nope. Sorry, only talk of ramen, and related garbage is permitted. End of story.

I have to agree on this too since I cook real food too. However I don't think many people cook real food. I'm not too sure about the people on GFF though...

edit: oops, I just saw the 2 posts above me...
