Moving from California to Texas
I got accepted into a graduate school in downtown Dallas, Texas, so I plan to move there in the future. I have never moved to another state, however, so I need some advice on how to do this. I will be moving from Northern California. I will be staying in an apartment complex owned by the university.
How do I go about moving all of my stuff? Do I put it in a moving truck and drive down there myself? What should I pack when I move there and what should I buy when I get there? I will also need a car when I get down there. What is the best way to go about getting a car? Should I buy one in California and then drive down to Texas with it? I have a California driver’s license currently. How should I go about getting a Texas driver’s license? And how much time in advance do I need before I move? Thanks. |
My advice would be call some moving companies. Get their rates. That'll help you determine whether it'll cost more to ship your $100 faux pine desk down or to just buy another one once you get there.
I'm pretty sure you get a new state license by taking your old one to the dmv in your new state. Far as cars go, why not check out prices in both places? Maybe you find a car you like best already in Texas. Driving from northern CA to Texas, you may be better off flying. |
