THE POWER OF WATER Jan 25, 2010 06:35 PM

Muzza Jan 25, 2010 10:11 PM

Nomination #32

Composer: Kyle Gabler
Album: World of Goo Soundtrack
Track Title: Red Carpet Extend-o-matic
Track Number: 25
Year: 2009
Catalog Number: N/A
Additional Information: "I wrote this in 2001 as a joke for a music class in undergrad. Only the beginning of this song is used in the game, and for only one level, but it has become one of the most requested pieces of music. So, here's the "full song", but it comes with a warning - this song is designed to sound like every cheap 90's dance song ever made. The singer is great though, an astrophysicist named Jessica. I gave a her a chainsaw for her wedding and we never spoke again. The end."

A cheap 90's dance song with a red carpet entrance to the FTP.

I thought about nominating this track quite a while ago, but exactly because it has this cheap dance song feeling i thought it would be better to refrain from doing so. Would have nominated something else if the whole soundtrack wasn't so dependent on a game around it (imho).

Before i forget it, here's my next nomination:
Album Title: Machinarium Soundtrack
Artist: Tomáš Dvořák
Disc Number: 1 of 1
Track Number: 1
Track Title: The Bottom
Year: 2009
Source: Machinarium Soundtrack - VGMdb

Edit:
Noticed that the line of the recent Neotokyo nomation in the nom archive is broken ( </li><li> <span style="color: red;">Neotokyo - Annul&lt;/span ); don't know who runs that but i'll just assume now that relevant people get to read this when i post it here.
Edit 2:
The line of WOLF FANG is also brokenz apparently ( </li><li> <span style="color: red;">WOLF FANG / TUMBLE POP - MIDNIGHT CHASER - 'Breakthrough'&lt;/font&gt; )
Edit 3:
CHz seems to have fixed the code of the above mentioned lines.

woo song of the week

Game: Ninja Gaiden Shadow
Title: Ending and Credits
Composer: Tecmo

Thing with this is, I combined both the short ending song and the kickass credits theme into one track. If that's not eligible, I can just submit the credits theme; I combined them because I was told it was much better that way.

1 Point - Driving Emotion Type-S / Bushido Blade Original Soundtrack - A Light Turn: I already know this, but ok I couldn't really remember, it's not bad
2 Points - High-Tension Princess Comedy Special Disc Set HIMEHAJIME BOX - Star Port Nocturne: sappy stuff, I like this for today, this music reminds me of a pizza commercial where two persons had candle light dinner with pizza ON A BRIDGE, and after the girl blew out the candle the whole brigde went dark, WHOA
1 Point - Mana-Khemia 2 Original Soundtrack - Corridor at Noon Recess: seems to be the day of those wewewewewe music, or how you call that, trillo trilling in the music?
2 Points - Super Robot Taisen OG: Original Generations Original Soundtrack - ICE MAN: Sounds like Touhou music if you ask me. 1:00++ proves it.

Kaleb.G Jan 29, 2010 11:33 PM

3 points - Pac-Man World Rally (Game Rip) - Arctic Iceberg
Wow. I really like what Mike has done with the Pac-Man theme. The style of this track is really nice.

Nom!

Album: J.B. Harold: Murder Club (TG-16 CD Redbook Audio)
Artist: Masahiro Sayama
Track Title: Investigation Rest
Track #: 03
Year: 1990
Notes: I found this TG-16 CD game at a local thrift store.

The above info came from freedb when I ripped the disc. Not sure if it's correct. The VGMDB page for the J.B. Harold Sound Collection Scene 1 shows Yoshihiko Miyazaki as the composer for all the games.

Nobody can argue that this week the westerners stole the show.

I felt this was a quality week, and it takes something quite extraordinary to top a Hülsbeck song for me.

Okay, I definitely was not expecting to hear Galaga in a Pac-Man track. Pretty decent arrangement too, though it got nudged out of points by the other tracks this week.

orion_mk3 Jan 31, 2010 07:34 PM

Once again didn't leave enough time for detailed comments. But votes is votes:

Star Port Nocturne - 2 pts.
Arctic Iceberg - 2 pts.
Ice Man - 2 pts.

Really enjoyable week here! Pretty sure I'll be happy with the results however they turn out. (and don't "Twilight Farm" and "Star Port Nocturne" sound great together)

2 points: Arctic Iceberg
2 points: Boss 2
1 point: 8.15 to nowhere
1 point: A Light Turn
just missed: Star Port Nocturne

I just had to revisit the Red Alarm soundtrack after hearing Boss 2. Percussion wise, it's absoulutely ridiculous, especially the boss battles, awesome stuff. Harmony-wise it hits a few rough spots but it's hard to complain since WOO YEAH VIRTUAL BOY MUSIC

This Mike Rubino dude, I want to shake his hand.
