Setting a 16:10 Monitor to Display 4:3 Resolutions Correctly

I recently bought a Westinghouse LCM-19w4 and love the detail it provides for 1440x900, the problem is though, that when I try to set it to 1024x768 (for 4:3 gaming an such) it stretches the image. Is there anyway (hardware or software) to get my LCD to squish the 4:3 resolutions to their proper aspect ratio?
