Clash of the Titans (2010)
Trailer:
I had no idea this was being remade (or re-imagined, whatever) Now I loved the original movie to death. I loved all the stop motion animation (which was just as wild 30 years ago, as it was nearly 50 years ago with Jason and the Argonauts and before) and the movie was quite fun too. I'm just hoping that this is pulled off decently. The trailer seems that it'll be quite epic, maybe because its Legendary Pictures. March 26th, 2010 is the release date. |
This remake has been in the pipelines for YEEEEEEEEEEEEARS. I remember there being rumors about Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brad Pitt and (insert famous actor/actress name here) being in it.
All this looks like to me is another attempt by Hollywood to take something that was campy and fun, take all of that out of it and add a lot of SERIOUS BUSINESS and ELABORATE SET PIECES which is typical and I'm not surprised. It's going to have Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson so it probably won't be all bad. http://www.giantbusts.co.uk/acatalog/BUBO.png I just hope that Bubo is going to get some play. :( |
I think as soon as you throw out the fact that you've seen the original and just see it as a film inspired by but not remaking the original...then it just becomes another fun blockbuster. I'll see it, don't think the trailer is all that bad personally.

The CGI doesn't look too bad, actually, but I'm a bit concerned with giving the main role to a dude from Terminator Salvation who ISN'T Christian Bale.

Remaking this is flawed. The original is so endlessly fucking badass that even attempting to come close to it must equate complete failure. Can you think of a better movie opening than the Kracken from the original? (If you say "yes", you are lying).
However, its written by Lawrence Kasdan - which means its either GREAT (Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Return Of The Jedi, Silverado) or COMPLETE CRAP (Dreamcatcher, Grand Canyon). Liam Neeson seems wrong as Zeus to me, but I like Liam so I'll run with it for now. |
Anyone else catch the Immortals from 300 in there?
|
And Ralph Fiennes as Hades! :/ I'm just glad they didn't pull a Troy and erase the gods from the narrative altogether.
