Spider-Man: The Iron Costume

I picked up The Amazing Spider-Man #529 last weekend, just to take a look at how his new costume turned out. You could tell just by looking at the cover, but it's obviously much more impressive than the original sketch that everyone was basing their negativity on.

Making it bullet-proof was a no-brainer, but all the other crap that Tony had integrated is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure Peter can get by without thermal vision.

I always liked Spider-man because he didn't need things like that, screw you Tony.

It won't last long. He'll get it destroyed soon enough.

Spidey's like the James Bond of heroes when it comes to breaking shit, iirc.

I'll say the same thign as I did on CBR when this topic arose. Bulletproof? BULLETPROOF?! One of the few heroes in comics that actually, realistically, takes damage and now he's bulletproof. He can see in the dark. He can sense the things that go bump nearby. He can form wood-looking stingers from his wrists. And now he has a suit that makes him bulletproof, gives him the ability to glide (how? those "wings" are so tiny), visual aids, police broadcast wire-in, and some weird tentacle things that come from this thing on his back. It was bad enough when they gave him organic webbing (don't you have to grow new organs for that?). I'm just gald that he won't be wearing this "Iron Spider" suit all the time.

i read some interview that Peter will have this suit until 2007. god damnit.

Keep in mind, though, he'll still be wearing the regular one on occassion. Although Marvel hasn't yet made it clear why he'll be wearing two different costumes, they say that artists drawing him either way is intentional. I'm sure it has something to do with the Civil War.

Zip Mar 4, 2006 02:26 PM

i think tony and peter will argue during civil war and then he just dumps the suit and we have old spider back =D

Radically new costumes are all the same. He'll loose the suit and the new powers just like Supes lost his energy form and Wayne came back to kick out Azbat.

Zip Apr 6, 2006 06:14 AM

lol did anyone else find it incredibly silly that they had to make a "new version" of the suit just so peter could switch between his old costumes? Marvel freaked out i promise.

Oh yeah i remember the new look of spiderman. the image got leaked out a month ago. good ol Tony Stark gave him that suit after something really fucked up happen to Peter/spidey.

I saw a few images from the issue. He testing it out by listening through Tony Stark in a tape recorder. I liked how he was remembering his oher 2 costumes through the mirror. The Road to Civil War is coming =].

to megalith : it looked as if he was happy when he was able to look through the wall and what not. But it might be useful for him.

I'm not too young, or I at least have read things with/about the Spider-Buggy. Man, that was a horrible idea. I think it was used in a Spidey-Torch crossover and, more recently, in one of the Marvel Age stories.
