Too much effort required for too little return I think. I tried giving #animespot a chance, but having to stay logged on in the hopes of catching any discussion at all turned me off to that. Plus, I could be there for days and not hear a peep from anyone :(

The problem is that that thread gets all the attention and ... nothing else does. But if what everyone else is saying is true, then I guess my question's been answered.

Well nobody is stopping you from making threads for other stuff in hopes of cultivating activity.

Honestly, there's no competing with ADTRW. I don't go to SA on account of being a cheapass, but even I know their community is 9999999x bigger.

And really, community size is the issue. When it's only the same 10 people responding to threads, conversations get stale and predictable quickly.

I am all for a rejuvenating of the forums, though. Please take the initiative to Do Something.

I wanted to do something a long while ago. Then stupid sub-forums were made instead. I wanted a million ANIME and MANGA tags but nnooooooooo can't have that apparently. Actually I bet we could be we are all so lazy. Maybe I will throw a brick at CHz and he will say Ow Acer usk.

Having separate forums is kind of useful in the event that there's a popular series with both an anime and manga. Keeps discussion of one out of the other without having to resort to a million spoiler tags everywhere. Cuz if you're just viewing the anime, why would you want to read about plot details that occur far in the future? It's like people in the Haruhi thread who keep going on about THIS HAPPENS IN THE NOVEL BUT IT HASN'T HAPPENED IN THE ANIME YET PROBABLY IN THE NEXT EPISODE I'M SO EXCITED WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

That said, that's really all that it's useful for. A million ANIME and MANGA tags (also probably MUSIC and GAMES or at least TOUHOU or something) is cool.

Yeah, the sub-forums would be good for that kind of separation if anyone actually discussed anything (at all really) and I believe that extra click to use the sub-forums probably prevents discussion cuz people so lazy.
