Ok so i was flicking through the forums today and stumbled across the following

and a question to the masses bubbled up from within:

Does anyone else think they're missing out on the 'offended' bandwagon?

I have never felt offended by something, sure some things are tastless and maybe a bit sick but i've never felt the kind of shunted offence that loads of people express when they hear a swear word.. or a dead baby joke..

i even went to the trouble to look up a definition,which is as follows:

1. a breaking of a law or rule; crime
2. annoyance or anger
3. a cause of annoyance or anger
4. give offence to cause to feel upset or angry
5. take offence to feel hurt or offended

obviously 1 is a legal term but the others are just getting annoyed..
i've been annoyed by something! my girlfriends 7 year old brother can be annoying but bless him he's never offended me! i've never taken the time to write to the daily express about being annoyed.. who does that?!?

so even if you cant answer my initial question, here's a backup:

Can you describe what being offened is like?

If it's so similar to being annoyed maybe i have been offended?

or maybe it's just a scapecoat to how we actually arnt that bothered by much these days?

It's an interesting position you're in, saying you're not offended online ever yet being probably the only member here to have asterisked out the swear word in their name.

You need to enable your journal to use it, there's a button that does it on the journal home page I believe and if not, there will be in your user options.

I'm offended at people who get offended by straight people using the word "gay" as an adjective.

Yeah, I've come across this one quite a bit...annoying.

I'm offended by people who belittle other people's jobs. "It can't be THAT hard." Jerks.

I hate that too! It fucking kills me. It's even worst when the person is explaining why it may be difficult, and they keep saying how what they do is better.

I get offended when people act better then another person. We are all equals.

On a more serious note. I do get offended when people talk in a demeaning way towards women. Or vice versa. I guess I just find gender sterotypes offensive.

It's one thing to talk about sex, it's another to just be damn disrespectful.

Nothing really seems to offend me either, but I guess it could just all be bubbling up inside me until one day I snap and blow up half the city.

i kinda got that "it's easy" too and even from people in the same field. almost like my effort don't worth anything.

Have you ever fought with someone for something they said? Then yes, you've been offended.
