The I.T. Crowd

I was surprised that we don't have a thread for the infamous Channel 4 show "The I.T. Crowd" in here already.

It's a British thing with British humour, it's excellent and funny as hell. I reckon most of us have quite some experience with computers, so the series protagonists will ring quite a bell:

Quote:

In a cluttered basement deep in the bowels of Reynholm Industries lurk Roy and Moss, the I.T. Department. Reviled and mocked by cooler colleagues, their world of servers and firewalls is rudely interrupted by the arrival of Jen, a new "Relationship Manager" who knows as much about computers as a yak.

She doesn't want to work in a dingy basement, and they don't want a manager who doesn't understand BASIC let alone binary, but they discover sometimes there are benefits to having a woman about the place...
Episodes of the I.T. Crowd are available for download here. You can also find them on YouTube.

Discuss.

Well i was able to see them all when they were shown on C3 a few weeks back, i have to say i loved them, a second series is already in the works. It was great to see people like Chris Morris (Denim) back and Richard Ayode (Moss) who also started in another C4 Tv show "Darkplace" which although didn't take off, has become a cult classic and is without a doubt thee funniest thing ever.

I was expecting alot from the people that created Father Ted, but I'm sorry this show is horrid, its so dry and predictable.

I only saw a few episodes of this show and it was pretty funny. It could have been made funnier. The guy on channel four just pissed me off by saying 'Now for the 'it' crowd' instead of 'Now for the I.T (Eye Tee) Crowd'.

I just watched the first episode and thought it was absolutely HILARIOUS. Especially at the end when the guy says "WHAT STORY DID YOU TELL?". I almost cried laughing.

It's funny in some parts, but the majority of it just seemed to be trying too hard and like El Ray said most of it was VERY predictable. It reminded me of a school play lol

I liked the show. It originally drew my attention because of the involvement of Chris Morris (Denham, the boss). He's a great comedy performer and it was just good to see him and the shows creator Graham Linehan going with the traditional studio sitcom at a time when a lot of comedy bigwigs are going 'tradcom? bleurgh, that's over, etc'.

Yeah, the plotlines and some of the gags are retreads, and it doesn't break new ground, but it was purely likeable enough (sounds copout I know) and there were enough shining moments (like whenever Chris Morris is on screen) to have me looking forward to its second series, where you never know, it might reach it's stride (it'd be easy, just give Chris Morris more screen time).

By the way, Chris Morris.

I've caught a few episodes, and find it pretty juvenile; the jokes are funny for about 5 seconds. I don't hate it but it's just not worth watching. Nothing like as good as Father Ted or Blackadder as two fine examples.

I watched all the episodes of this. I wasn't that impressed with it though, as some of the humour just fell flat on it's ass most of the time. I thought the start credits were the best thing about this.
And they're making a second series? why?

I've only watched the first episode so far, but I like it. The jokes are a little predictable, but it's a style of humor that I've kind of grown nostalgic for, I guess. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but it works for me.

Thanks for the YouTube heads up, Rock. I heard about this show a while ago and completely forgot to check it out.

In my opinion Green Wing is much better.
