I know I've asked this same question before, but apparently I've forgotten to download the past couple weeks. Anybody got an archive that I can access?

Good question. To me, his work on Baten Kaitos is too well known, but I'm sure nearly everyone will disagree as per usual.

I don't have particularly strong views against a Baten Kaitos nomination. It's a less clear cut case to me than say Valkyrie Profile.

A few nominations in past BSCs do not necessarily make it popular, I feel, but I guess it might depend partly on how well those tracks did back then and how many rounds they got through.

Hold on now, not everybody at once! I guess somebody's got to pop this cherry.

(2 points) THE ACES HIGH: RAIDEN RARE TRACKS - Limit exceed (Level4): It doesn't reinvent the wheel in terms of synths, but it's got an unmistakable rocking vibe that apparent from the start. I love when the music kicks into a higher key, making it a tad more heroic.

(2 points) Extra ~Official Compilation~ - THE PHOENIXION -Extra Mix-: I hated the vocalist at first, but I've come around now to simple toleration. The guitar noodling is top-notch here.

(1 point) Persona 4 Original Soundtrack - The Almighty: The guitar could be a little dirtier and harder, but I dig its tone and love the sparing use of piano to supplement the less aggressive moments.

(1 point) Bomb Jack (Game Boy Game Rip) - Title: Decent chiptunage here. It merits a point. The fast-paced middle is the best part.

Credits is just okay instrumental rock. SORCERIAN SUPER MEGA MIX Part 2 has its moments but simply proves that all Mega Mixes are just too long and unwieldy. I love Jesper Kyd but Necris Attacks sounds like an unispired take on the Halo theme. Let's Be Friends sounds like the nauseatingly cute theme of ... well, a game where everybody wants to be friends.

I am with Drakken. I think that Baten Kaitos is too well known.

Wow, two voters in two weeks. I can tell that the burgeoning Baten Kaitos controversy really touched a nerve (for the record: not too popular for SotW). If things don't pick up we'll have to take things into an unprecedented 3rd week.

Bomb Jack (Game Boy Game Rip) - Title Excellent chiptune chops all around with a blisteringly good melody. If BCC2 ever becomes a reality (whaddaya say Drakken?), this will do well. It'll be hard to beat this for my #1 spot this week.

Extra ~Official Compilation~ - THE PHOENIXION -Extra Mix- The vocals are decent and there's a nice latin feel, but this never really seemed to come together and go anywhere which is a shame.

Perfect Collection Sorcerian Vol. 2 - SORCERIAN SUPER MEGA MIX Part 2 These Sorcerian songs always try to outdo each other with the adjectives: Forever Omni Perfect Flawless Sorcerian - SORCERIAN ULTRA MEGA HIGH OCTANE FUEL INJECTED. I guess it's an attempt to compensate for some rather meh music, in this case.

Persona 4 Original Soundtrack - The Almighty There is a way to combine this series' trademark techno and rock stylings into something fabulous. This isn't it; they keep forgetting the melody.

THE ACES HIGH: RAIDEN RARE TRACKS - Limit exceed (Level4) It gets the job done as far as high-flying synths are concerned but doesn't do much that's out of the ordinary.

Thief: The Dark Project (Game Rip) - Credits I guess grinding techno loops really do suggest a medieval fantasy sneaker, don't they? The beats are fine, but there's no substance--no anything else!

Unreal Tournament III The Soundtrack - Necris Attacks (Extended Version) this is a more interesting sequence of grinding techno loops but it's still missing any kind of melodic chops to make it interesting; doesn't feel like a complete song.

ZUNTATA HISTORY L'ab-normal 1st - Let's Be Friends! Everyone's Friends!! (Mizubaku Daibouken) It's cutesy and saccharine and annoying (what's with the typewriter and squeaky toy SFX?) but still rather catchy despite it all.

Really wretched week, which might explain the lack of voting interest.

I really favoured the chiptunes this week, but even the ones I didn't award points were more than decent. Good week! (And gosh isn't "Let's Be Friends! Everyone's Friends!!" like the most smile-inducing track you've ever heard)
