Laptop recommendations?

Hi

My company signed me up for a project and told me that I could buy any laptop I wanted and now I need some recommendations.

I basically want a small one with long battery life (good for travel).
I've seen one of those touchsmart-laptops from HP - have anybody tried them yet? I'm just wondering the usefulness of it.

Also, does dual-screen laptop exists yet?

Get a Toughbook. That way, if you get shot at or set fire to or pushed down the stairs you won't lose any of your project work.

I would have picked that one if I worked in the building industry ^^

If you're looking for something small try either the Samsung NC10 or the Acer Aspire One series.

Provided you can install a copy of Windows XP into it, you should get a little Acer Aspire One. Shits are small, good for travel and have ridiculous battery life. (About 6 hours)

Plus, at $329, the price is not bad at all.

If you already have a copy of Windows XP that you can use, buy one of the ones with Linux and the price drops even further. They are nice machines for a traveller. To be honest they are nice machines for anyone, but the size, weight and battery life mean that for travellers it doesn't get much better.

I thought 9-hours batterytime was normal for laptop nowadays?
Hmmm...i have to skip Linux, have to use Windows. Mostly because I have project tools that run on Windows...

Also, the price doesn't really matter as they didn't give me a pricelimit. I think I can go for a $800-900 dollar laptop :D

I don't mean you should USE the Linux OS. I mean that if you buy one with Linux, it's cheaper. Then you can install a Windows OS that you already have. For example, I have a couple of spare XP licenses so I'm not going to buy an OS with my next machine.

After looking through different onces, I think I found one that I'm pleased with:

HP Compaq 2530p
HP Compaq 2530p Notebook PC for Federal government (HP Public Sector)

But I need to buy more memory, to 8GB.

Wow, those are all an expensive ripoff. Compaq makes the worst computers since the 1900s.

Look around Custom Laptops by PowerNotebooks.comâ„¢ - Discount Custom Notebooks & Cheap Laptop Computers , you'll probably get a much better deal.

Did everyone missed the part when he said that price didn't matter?

As for dual screen laptops, try the Lenovo W700ds. On that note, I recommend any of the ThinkPads (T series seem to be the tried-and-trusted) with a 9-cell battery upgrade should do well for you.

That's a poor excuse to support scammers like HP/compaq. They make the worst cases on the planet. Even if it's a laptop, it still supports them >_<
