Taking The Law Into Your Own Hands
 

So today when I was on my way home from work using the subway train, I sat close to two teenagers. Before the end station and my stop, one of them suddenly pulled out a lighter and tried to burn the edge of the wall.

He managed to burn a little and then I yelled at him not to do vandalism. He said he wasn't doing vandalism. Out of nowhere I said that it's your tax money that's going to be used to repair that.

I could have pulled out my police ID, but then he just sat there. Even when the train stopped, he just sat the quite. Don't know why...then I just left.

You aren't an officer though, so pulling your...what, ID card that says you work at a prison, would have accomplished a grand total of fuck all.

It would have SCARED THEM STRAIGHT.

If you're involved in a dispute with another commuter and you can't work it out, don't take the law into your own hands.

Unless you're Chuck Norris. Never take the law in your hands, in the end it all goes down to shit. I know this because I've seen enough movies.

Uhh I guess it depends. If I see some guy beating up his wife in the subway, I'd probably protest and kick him in the face. Same if some kids try to burn "the edge of the subway wall" or if those assholes smoke at the train station (though I would probably only protest and not kick them in the face). It's not really a question of taking the law into your own hands rather than a question of moral courage in my opinion.

I'm sure I'd be tempted, but then I'd also be concerned about the possibility that whoever it was might be carrying a knife or a gun or something. No thanks on that possibility. I might go and notify someone, if it was a serious offence though.

We were out one night partying, on the way home I saw some guy slap his girlfriend, I jumped in and punched him, nothing else.
But honestly, most of the time, if you see something just walk away, call the cops if you want to feel good but dont do anything yourself. It will probably end up with you getting in trouble, and depending on the guys, get beat up.

It really all depends on the situation. If I just saw someone get shot or something I probably wouldn't approach the guy with the gun but I would call 911 or something. On the other hand, if I saw some scumbag stealing an old lady's purse or beating on a woman or something to that effect, I would definitely step in if I was in any position to.

I always try not to, if someone is doing something wrong and it's not your buissnes then leave it at thet.or at least so I belive. needless to say this doesn't count on the extremes like rape,murder,etc..
If I saw someone molesting someone else on the bus or train for example ,and I will be sure he's an actual molester then ill probably confront him.

Depends on the situation for me as well, but I would probably protest anything that would be against the law, but might not take much action to protect the law. I would hope that my protest and a few harsh words would deter them from continuing.

Just take a picture of them committing the crime with your cellphone, taking special care to make sure they see you do it...

...and then run off really quickly. ;)

It could actually be a good thing to take the law into your own hands. However the chance of the act being viewed as good is minutely small compared to how much of a challenge Chuck Norris will see it as.

I however have never taken the law into my own hands. I don't even know where to begin. But if I saw someone doing something that I know for certain is not righteous, I would certainly bring it to other people's attention. He may be able to fight me and me alone. But what good can he do against a mob of people all now fully aware?
