Ads - Results

I was reading the other thread and people wanted to know how we were doing from the Adsense program. After reading the program policies there is no restrictions from letting people know how we're doing from the program so here it is.

Although I had higher expectations from the program, the revenue is generated by clicks rather than how many times the ads are seen. Over the past 7 days, we have received 100 ad clicks in total leading to a revenue of $21.59 which is not very much :). The weekly average ranges from $19-$27. I wish more people viewed or clicked on ads to keep Gamingforce semi self sufficient although I am not allowed to directly encourage it. Attached is a screenshot of the revenue made over the past 7 days.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to click on some ads once in a while...

Miles Apr 6, 2006 03:04 AM

Wow, that seems pretty sad compared to how it first did on the temporary forums we had during GFF's downtime:

I was expecting at least 50 dollars a week.

FatsDomino Apr 6, 2006 08:10 AM

Alright, I guess the difference was that we actually clicked the ads on the temp forums. I'll get to clicking ads more often.

Thanks for the report, bobo. =)

TRZD Apr 6, 2006 02:30 PM

Fair enough, I'll get clicking too. :)

Rydia Apr 6, 2006 03:49 PM

Good to hear about the progress. I'll try to click a few each day.

Eleo Apr 6, 2006 04:40 PM

I honestly don't even see the ads thanks to certain Firefox plugins. Like I said earlier, you should just replace all of Megalith's posts with ads. Nine out of ten LeHahs agree.

BlueMikey Apr 6, 2006 09:03 PM

Very surprising, I just don't understand the pay scale, I guess. GFF had almost half a million more page views and most Internet estimates valued that highly. Clicking is quite important, I guess.

IdleChill Apr 6, 2006 09:36 PM

I heard that google tries to screw you when it's time for them to pay up. Saying you've cheated and whatnot. Hopefully this doesn't happen. :)

*click*

that's probably adblock that is blocking the ads. Look at the botom right of your screen you should see the word Adblock, rigth-click on it and choose, whitelist this whole site. This will bring back the ads. Even if all of the member wold put the ads in his sig, the adblock will block them all...

Drex Apr 6, 2006 10:43 PM

Thanks for the update, bobo. Like I said in the other thread, I didn't notice the ads until yesterday, at which point I clicked. I will continue to click from here on out.

And though bobo isn't allowed to encourage ad clicking, mightn't we?

CLOudkiller Apr 6, 2006 11:49 PM

And I thought I was the only one who didn't notice the ads till now, but hey at least they ain't pop-up ads. If it helps GFF then I'd be glad to help support by clicking.

ramoth Apr 7, 2006 06:18 AM

Might this be moved to a more public place? I think more people would like to know about this.

Nine out of ten LeHah's agree? Usually people assing some sort of positive image to the thing they're basing their rating scheme on (stars, thumbs ups, pants, etc)

Fjordor Apr 7, 2006 02:55 PM

I too will start working on clicking more often.
Chances are, many other people will see this thread and pick up the pace.

Zergrinch Apr 7, 2006 08:44 PM

Don't overdo it on the clicking, guys. You're gonna end up with Google accusing bobo of click fraud :P

Not to be a jerk, bobo, but the $27 you got is $27 you wouldn't have had otherwise, isn't it? >_>

Well, he's got to get to 100bux before they pay out, I believe. However, it isn't the resounding success that would pay the monthly bills quick fix that we, or at least a good number of us, thought.

HOWEVER, 100 dollars is 100 dollars.

Kaiten Apr 9, 2006 09:51 AM

I'd do my part, but honestly I can't even see the ad at the bottom of the page. Maybe you should make something Adblock couldn't get rid of so easily, it seems it's smart enough to block all of Google's ads.
Of course I could use IE to open the ad, but well I try to use IE as little as possible. Plus I haven't really clicked on adds for about four years now.

again, I can help you optimize things to get more decent earnings if you're interested. quite frankly, this is a pretty pathetic adsense campaign. there's a lot you could do to improve your earnings.

It seems from your other posts that your solution is to put ads in places people don't want to see them. Gamingforce isn't an ad-driven community, for the most part, and I don't think bobo wants it to be. It's his call, though.
This also isn't your site with the ads in every place you look, and besides I don't think the members would put up with ads everywhere.

BlueMikey Apr 27, 2006 08:46 PM

Did take Sarah's suggestion to get rid of the screenshots, forgot those were against the ToS.

No we won't fill Gamingforce with more ads.

DSan Apr 28, 2006 01:25 AM

Is there a way to force someone to click the ad before they can log in or is that considered click fraud?
