Custom Steak Seasonings
So, I was just thinking that it might be nice to start a little thread to compile some of our favorite types of steak seasonings.
For this thread, you must avoid any premixed seaonings, except perhaps stuff like "seasoned salt." So, or starters, here is a little seasoning for blackened steak: -fresh-ground black pepper -red pepper -paprika -salt -rosemary (just a small portion) -dried, minced garlic Very simple I know, but we can step up the complexity. |
Salt and black pepper taste pretty good on a steak.

Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, a touch of ground sage, and a light coating of lemon pepper. Sage and chili powder are good on most anything though really.

I always marinate my steaks with salt, black pepper, fresh garlic, with some lemon and soy sauce. I stick soy sauce with everything, apparently--chicken, fish, barbeque...but I find it goes best with steak. :)

I marinate my steaks with a rub mix I make. It's Pappy' seasoning, pepper, minced garlic and a hint of cinammon. Try it! It's awesome!
|
What is "Pappy' seasoning"?
|
I typically put salt, pepper, lemon pepper, garlic powder, and any meat tenderizer powder. In a large ziplock bag, I add one tablespoon of soy sauce with minced garlic and have the steak sit overnight. It seems to always please the people I've prepared it for.

It's a fucking awesome seasoning. It's especially great to season tri-tip. Quote:
