Good OS X screensaver

I'm running OS X and I'm using an app to have an active screensaver as my desktop background. However, I want something more exciting than Arabesque (my favorite of the default screen savers). It would be really cool to have the iTunes visualiser work as a screensaver, and thus my desktop background. But I'm just looking for something flashy and colorful in general. Google searching is giving me a bunch of dumb crap like falling snowflakes and flying Matrix code. Thanks.

Try Soundstream.

It's a visualiser that accepts mic input. Idle your computer, clap your hands. You will say wow.

I came. Thank you. :tpg:

After getting this, I learned about Quartz Composer and I actually ended up modifying Soundstream to include my desktop wallpaper in the screen saver so it fits better with the color theme.

Messing with Quartz Composer. If I have some time, maybe I can make a version that actually uses the existing desktop wallpaper and feeds it in dynamically. If so, I'll post the result here.

Here it is, sorta. Unpolished, but usable. Also, I couldn't get it to read the desktop background wallpaper (if there's a way, I don't know how). But anyway, have a file called desktop.jpg in the same directory as this screen saver, and it will use that as the background. This may give strange results if you choose a wallpaper size that doesn't fill the entire screen, but I haven't tested it. Also, I removed the splash screen.

If you can get it to work with a USB mic I would be forever indebted, but I suppose it's no biggy to go dig up my 1/8" pin mic. I used it to replace my actual wallpaper. Very cool indeed.
