Winamp unicode tagging
Long time user of Winamp here. Frankly, I'm tired of Winamp screwing up my tags over and over. Usually, I can cure this simply using the auto-tag feature, but when it comes to unofficial tags (such as remixes) that are tagged in Japanese (i'm guessing), I get a bunch gibberish characters. Basically, I can see some japanese characters, but not all of them.
Is it possible to display unicode AND japanese/other languages simultaneously? Or any fix? I'm on v5.531 of winamp, and I have all the language files installed. |
Hold on. Are you saying Winamp turns Unicode into a bunch of gibberish when you're tagging it, or is it non-Unicode that gets turned into gibberish?

I think I found the issue: apparently Vista Business can only support one language setting, as opposed to multi-lingual support from Vista Ultimate. So, it may that I don't have necessary language files installed in the first place. I found this:
How to Install Vista Language Packs MUI on all versions of Vista + video tutorial - KezNews.com but I'm not sure if it will actually provide mutli-lingual support or just switch to the chosen language. |
Ack Vista. I haven't gotten around to it yet. Sorry, can't help ya with Vista issues :p

It's not a Vista issue, it's a Winamp issue. Switch to foobar2000 or even iTunes; hell, even WMP has better Unicode support than Winamp does.

I loaded the soundtrack into foobar and I was still getting the same characters :/
