Software to reduce music volume and automatic shutdown
Ok this is weird request, I remember few years ago I encountered this unique software that could reduce volume of your pc automatically and will shut the pc down when idling. It's very useful for peope who suffers insomnia, and I need this kind software to correct my sleeping schedule (I could only sleep at 4 am these days, it's torturing)., I could easily sleep when listening music, but I dont want turn on my laptop all night long.
Does anyone know any software that could do these task? (or anything similar) I forgot the name of software I used, but I remember it's shareware and I couldnt find crack or keygen anywhere. I will be very grateful if someone could help me out >.< |

Try looking up Winamp timer type programs. I've had one for a while on my PC at home that can turn off the computer at a specified time or at the completion of a playlist. I'll try to dig up the name of it when I get home tonight.

Ok, so the general purpose one I have is called AMP WinOFF. It can shut your computer down, put it into hibernate, etc at a certain time.
I also have a plugin for Winamp called Winamp Timer v1.0 [AMPTimer.DLL] I still use a 2.x version of Winamp, so I don't know if that plugin will work for 5.x versions, though I imagine there's an equivalent out there somewhere. With the plugin I get three options. 1) Close Winamp after the playlist is over. 2) Shutdown System after playlist is over. 3) Shutdown system at X time. I've found both of these programs can have difficulties shutting the computer down with some programs open, though it seems to me Steam is the most common culprit. That just means I have to be sure to close it before leaving my PC for the night. |
For shutdown or other scheduled tasks, I use a small console program called 'nircmd'. It's very good to use with batch files that can be scheduled to execute whenever. I personally use it in conjunction with my IR remote which has one of the buttons programmed to shut off my monitors. Lots of options and possibilities!
