Need a Vista expert here or something

Well I got a new PC recently that comes with Vista (bah). This is my first time using Vista, but anyway I am confused about something. This PC has a 640GB HDD. There's apparently two hard drives, C with 232GB and D with 348GB. The name of D is 'Data.'

So when I put files in drive C, the free space naturally goes down, but when I put anything in drive D, the free space is always 348GB. I'm confused.

Anyone care to explain? Why isn't it going down? I'm guessing Vista is using that 348GB for recovery or something, which I think is way too high.

I'm obviously not a techie person >_>

Additional Spam:
Okay never mind. Apparently I can check the Drive Properties and see how much space I'm using. It just doesn't show in Explorer. So everything's fine.
