I'm a Devil Survivor, I'm gonna make it, I will survive, Keep on surviving

This popped up a while ago in a japanese gaming rag with little more than a two page ad with red swirls and the logo on the second page. I'll dig around for some more info on it, but apparently this may be lumped in with the other SMT games.

It's always a pleasure to see Jack Brothers making their come back again. Other than that, it looks interesting.

Goddammit, now with Persona being such a huge success, they're starting to use more and more normal anime art. Fuck that.

Rotorblade Nov 5, 2008 10:38 PM

I wouldn't worry about it, GB, Devil Children had to grow up with the audience it seems.

Bigblah Nov 5, 2008 10:48 PM

GB evidently isn't complaining about that aspect, considering that this is a game for the Nintendo DS.

Rotorblade Nov 5, 2008 10:55 PM

Uh, yeah, I don't think you quite understood what I was getting at, what with Devil Children having that "anime" art style when Kazuma Kaneko was doing his pre and then post computer filtering artwork.

will this end up into another pokeclones? I cant enjoy devil children at GBA at all, the story is too generic, though the ones in gb have a very dark story (as seen from manga version)

The game came out this week, as I'm sure anyone who was interested is already aware.

The story was promising in the introduction, with a very Nocturne-ish vibe coming from the narration's allusions to Revelations ("As He proclaimed... This world, created in seven days, shall be destroyed by the sounding of seven trumpets."), but quickly degenerates into some seriously retarded dialogue and plot points.

Demonic rituals. Converted into computer programs. Right.

Battles are good fun however, so I'm sure I'll get into it just fine. Just going to have to ignore the story more than I would like.

The Plane Is A Tiger Jun 26, 2009 09:04 AM

Wasn't that the plot of the original SMT? Something about a guy creating a demonic ritual computer program that summoned demons into the world? I know that was at least the plot of a short (and dull) anime movie thing that seemed to be based on the first game, so it's not like they're pulling that completely out of nowhere.

Anyway, I picked the game up yesterday. I was planning to wait a bit, but I figured it would disappear from store shelves pretty fast like all Atlus games. The battle system seems like it'll be pretty nifty.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jun 26, 2009 10:06 AM

I honestly don't care if it's not setting a precedent with its plot. I'm concerned about how dumb it is, and --new idea or not-- "computer program demon ritual" is very dumb.

Yeah, the plot is weird. We have a cult that worships the internet. I kid you not. The internet is the new Tower of Babel I guess.
