No More Heroes 2 - The Sequel to that Star Wars game
Everyone's favorite assassin otaku returns in more lightsaber and hyper-entertaining temp jobs. Debut trailer on gametrailers http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_04.png http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_05.png http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_06.png http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_02.png http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_03.png http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...FF/NMH2_01.png Discuss~ |
You can't really tell from the trailer if they stuck to the PS1-era blocky graphics and horrible clipping of the first game or decided to make it at least up to the standards of the last generation of consoles this time out.
|
YESSSSS. Game of the year, whatever year this is coming out in. Seriously, I'm pretty excited but there's not much to discuss at this point. Like Shin pointed out, with the first game's track record of having much better graphics in the first teasers than what the finished product ended up with, this little clip tells us almost nothing about the game; certainly not how it's going to end up looking (although the visuals look a lot closer to the first game's graphics than to the first game's teasers). I honestly wouldn't mind the same mechanics as the first game, but if they're developing this with the WiiMotionPlus in mind, we might have the makings for something EPIC.
EDIT: Upon watching it again, those visuals look exactly like those old teasers for the first game. I might end up being surprised, but I'm convinced this is just eye candy. |
As long as they have that insanely catchy theme song back in the game, I'll be happy.
|
I'm sure there's a witty comment to continue on here, but I would have actually enjoyed the first game if it weren't for the dumb shit between actually getting to cut motherfuckers up. For every awesome boss battle, there's a segment of fail involving farming money. I don't much give a shit for Suda51 and the only thing I find enjoyable about Grasshopper Manufacture is their music composer, so I'll be waiting to be surprised with this thing or some shit.

Maybe it'll be a motion+ game since it's not coming out till Jan 2010. - http://www.mmv.co.jp/common/images/v...009TGS2008.pdf

NMH2? Practically a confirmation of the Travis Touchdown Trilogy. ALL OVER MY FACE
If it's not until 2010, I'm expecting the graphics to be at least a little updated. The trailer might point that way, since I can see Travis' outfit and beam katana got some changes. I'm not expecting any big graphical overhaul, though, especially when you consider how big of a failure this game was in Japan (really only a "success" in comparison to other Grasshopper games). No, I'd say this game exists mostly because of American and European interest, and that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside (being a day one owner). |
So they're planning on releasing two PAL versions; one like the original for the likes of Germany (and most likely stinky Australia) where enemies turn to ash when killed and a proper uncut, bloody version like America will get.
No More Heroes 2 to get two versions News // Wii /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More That's pretty awesome. :cmb: |
Yeah, I forgot most of the world got stuck with the "ash" deaths, but I wouldn't quite say the US bloodfest was the "uncut" version. Goichi stated somewhere that both versions were in development at the same time and both were true to his vision and had equal value. Those with the US version also had to deal with a bit more lag when cutting up baddies.
2010? Nope. It was announced at TGS that this is slated for a 2009 release. |
No More Ubisoft
"[UPDATE]: During Marvelous Entertainment's TGS International Press Event today, the company offered a few more details about Desperate Struggle. The game is only being developed for the Wii, is set for release next year, and is being made by the original No More Heroes creative team. International publishing has also already been arranged, as Rising Star will again handle the European release, while Marvelous will copublish the title in North America through a deal with Xseed Games." - source

Suda 51 isn't directing No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle.
Looks like the assistant director from the first will be taking the reigns, as long as Suda is still fairly involved in the game I don't see a problem with this. |
I don't really see a problem in any case. Crotch-laser lady is sign enough of the quirky humor, and I really don't see Suda 51 being the sole source (or even possibly the primary one) of the zaniness.
Besides, Suda-led Grasshopper games have actually had a relatively poor track record for me prior to No More Heroes-- I didn't care much for Killer7; a game he was deeply involved with, and loved Contact; a game that couldn't have had less input by Suda. |
"Lazarus, come out!"
Some new scans and info. Travis now dual-wields beam katanas. :tpg: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27.../nmh2_fami.jpg As you can also see, Travis and Sylvia have been given slight redesigns. The UAA still seems to be Sylvia's scheme though, as now Travis is fighting assassins ranked below him. First introduced is #50, Nathan Copeland and his transforming stereo system. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...l/copeland.jpg |
Plus there's a trailer coming on the 30th from Famitsu.

Oh fuck. I want this now!!
|
As neat as it was, I was a little concerned over the seriousness they were trying to convey. Thank God for the last three or four seconds of the trailer, though! (penis jokes, ha ha)
Or at least the "hookers as projectiles" bit. |
Okay, ignoring the dubbing and fairly lame humor, the rest of this new trailer is pretty interesting.
New information: - Four different kinds of beam katanas (beam odachi revealed, joining the single-handed and dual katana as the currently revealed styles) - Smarter AI that attempts to coordinate attacks - Improved camera in boss fights - Minigames are now played out in 8-bit 2D fashion Another (unrelated) tidbit is that there are now special missions where you take control of not only Shinobu, but also Spoiler:
New artwork: Nathan:
New guy:
In addition, the official website is running a special contest to design an in-game shirt for Travis. Suda will pick a winner at some point, etcetera. May as well give it a shot if you have a decent idea. |
Holy fuck that revolver is the best thing I've seen in months :tpg:
|
The artwork is out of this world.
Bundle NMH2 with a real version of NMH1 here in EU, and I'll be picking it up on launch day. One can dream... |
I... feel the need to make a prop of that gun.

A teaser for one of the new playable characters:

MOE MORE HEROES
Necroing this fucking thread.
NO MORE HEROES: PARADISE [XBox 360, PS3] What It Is A Hi-Def facelift of the original No More Heroes, Paradise is being released in 2010 on both the XBox 360 and the PS3. New features for Heroes' Paradise include updated HD visuals, redesigned controls, and as a "Very Sweet Mode" that gives you a whole new way to look at the fabulous women of No More Heroes.:tpg: |
When I had first heard about it, I was very excited. I thought maybe it was a new game with high-powered graphics, and probably squealed a little bit (it's sort of a blur). Then I saw it was the first game, so I thought maybe a facelift with a ton of new content, like they usual do with delayed port.
But from what I've seen, it's just a facelift, with the girls in even skimpier clothing and motion controls undoubtedly mapped to the right analog. Don't get me wrong, it's great that people who don't have a Wii can now play what is one of the best games on the console, but there's very little incentive for players of the original to return to it. But now that you have me thinking about No More Heroes... Desperate Struggle is supposed to be out in the US next month. Shit yeah. |
