Task list software

OK, I'm looking for either some type of software or technology to allow me to keep track of a task list, and have the following requirements in order from most to least important:
1) Version control/history OR automatic backups at regular intervals.
2) Accessible from any computer (i.e. it's on a server connected to the Internet -- I have my own server I can work with if needed)
3) Can store a cached version on my local machine automatically every time I access the list. This way, if I have no Internet connectivity for some reason, I can at least read the list.

I've tried a few different setups, but none of them have been able to fulfill all of the requirements. Do you geniuses have a solution for me?

Task list like to-do? Hmm. Except for version control it sounds like Remember the Milk would work well. It's a web-app so it's accessible anywhere, it's compatible with Google Gears for offline use, has mobile versions for remote access and submissions via e-mail... And it does maintain a history of one's tasks, but not in any versioned sort of way.

Hey, that sounds like it might actually work out well for me. Thanks for the info! I'll try it out later on.

P.S. How's it going Mr. Killmon? I haven't seen you around for a while.

I having trouble understanding what exactly you are looking for.

What about something like 'Remember the Milk'?

Remember The Milk: Online to do list and task management

Or revision control software like CVS?

Remember the Milk was already mentioned two posts above you, and that's what I have decided to go with. It seems to work fine for me. I really don't need to track every single change, I mainly only wanted to keep a history of completed tasks, which this does. Also, now that I know to visit https://rememberthemilk.com/offline/, my Google Gears install works properly in showing me all of my tasks even when not connected to the Internet.

I had considered CVS, but it's too large of an implementation, and not directly suited for my needs. Thanks for the suggestions though.
