Lazy Eyed Nerd Slapped Down By Enabler Of Idiots

Quote:

A federal judge on Monday ruled against a Web site operator who was seeking to publish an encyclopedia about the Harry Potter series of novels, blocking publication of "The Harry Potter Lexicon" after concluding that it would cause author J.K. Rowling "irreparable injury."

I'm sure fans are crying out that this is some type of censorship or something else stupid. Frankly, I find it hysterical.

I wonder what about this reference book that would cause Rowling "irreparable injury".
"Irreparable" injury to her growing stash of money maybe.

Yes, nanaman.

That would be the purpose of copyright law.

You are very smart.

We can all look forward to the fully licenced and double the price version hitting the shops before christmas though no doubt.

Also, a lexicon is something quite different from an encyclopaedia so they deserved to be barred from publishing on grounds of butchery of the English language if nothing else. There's not even any attempt at a pun in the title, it's a pretty poor effort all round really. Why not Harrypaedia or Potterpaedia or The Muggles guide to not reading fucking crappy, sub-Enid-Blyton kids books you bunch of tards? You know, I think I hate Harry Potter fans even more than I hate furries.

I'm quite aware of copyright law. After looking up in the dictionary I now know how the word "injury" can be used in discussions of law for violation of rights etc. than just physical/mental injury to oneself. The wording just seemed weird to me since English isn't my mother tongue and I didn't know the other definition of it.

I am so fucking happy I made this thread - I cannot tell you the joy this brings me.

So what if I didn't know? Never picked up a dictionary yourself, oh you great all knowing one? It's not like I've ever discussed law that very much in English before so excuse me if I don't know all the terms in every definition. And thanks for cutting up half of what I said turning it into something completely else.

That's called "taking a quote out of context". See, you are learning so much today, gaining a lot of valuable experience in the English language

I remember hearing about this, she doesn't want it published cuz she might want to do her own or something, right? Probably could've been avoided if the person'd just contacted her to ask permission. Anybdoy know why he dind't just try to do that? Figured he didn't need to or something?

Same reason why no one ever emails her when they want to publish their Snape x Dumbledore* fan fiction online.
