Good Router?
I am trying to get a new router. I know that according this Linksys and D-link sucks. Right now I am using Linksys -G (except its ready to fall apart any second.)
Recommend me a good router. |
Honestly, I've had netlink and d-link routers that work just fine. And I've had more expensive ones that suck. Overall, I don't really see the reason to spend a lot of extra money on a "high end" router, unless you need a lot of channels.
Just get one that supports b+g and you should be fine. You can download custom firmware for most routers that works better than the default bloatware that usually comes with them. |
Buffalo is pretty good. The router itself is light and minimal, while the configuration is deeper (and more graphically pleasing) than Linksys.

If you like custom firmware and stuffs, the Linksys routers with linux-based firmware (WRT54GL) should work for you.

I usually build routers from thin clients (IGEL thin clients with one additional PCI slot are good) and use fli4l or ipcop as a routing software.
URLs: fli4l: News IPCop.org :: The bad packets stop here! Also works with old desktop systems, if you can live with the size of them. Pretty neat for a lot of advanced settings and a rock-stable system (4 years router uptime is nothing special). |
