Connection Problems
A pretty vague thread title, huh? Well, the reason for that is that I'm not exactly sure what's wrong, so hopefully once I describe the problem one of you can help diagnose the cause (along with the solution).
So it's like this; my Mom works for a Medical company, in which she transcribes reports from doctors. The company provided her with a connection service for free, so we switched our old service (Comcast) for that (Snappy).
Since then, there's been some minor yet annoying problems with the computers in our house (5 of them). There's been complaints from the laptop owners (my dad and sister) about how their connections will occasionaly be too slow. My sister also complains about having low signal strength (normally it would be higher where she has her laptop stationed). As for myself, since I do more downloading than anyone self, sometimes when I'm downloading a big file (like a game), I get complaints about the connection being slow. Turning off the download makes their connections normal again.
Another example is when I log into Metal Gear Online. With my PC on, I get an orange (low) signal in the game. Turning off the PC changes the signal in the game to green (best).
So I think the problem might be that my mom's new connection can't handle 5 computers running at once. The only question is what I can do to fix it. Do I change the router (the same one we used for the previous connection), the modem (a new one provided by the company. She says it's required for her job, but she's not exactly computer-savy), or get a better online service? Any ideas are welcome.
