Bernie Mac Dies, Aged 50

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Comedian Bernie Mac dies aged 50

Fill in your thoughts below about the black man with the painfully expressive smile

Stunned would be the best way to describe how I feel. I didn't care for the man's sense of humor, but I didn't...think people could die at 50? Dunno.

Also, I think this is the first time I've ever seen "lol" and "Mencia" in the same sentence.

Mencia is only bad if you pay attention to him. Like a stepchild or a starving puppy with big sad eyes.

I didn't specifically enjoy his scenes in movies I enjoyed but his show was pretty funny when I caught it.
Too bad, 50 was way to young for someone like him.
Oh and mencia is more like a bum you see but you don't pay attention to him and keep walking but guess what, he comes up to you and ask for change. The way I mean is, he tries to force his audience to laugh at times.

Bernie Mac will kick a kid's ass.

I loved him, if only for his Kings of Comedy performance. The TV show was decent enough, but not as good as his stand up.

Sucks to see him go though, RIP.

Now what the heck are they gonna do with Ocean 14 :(

[edit] Almost forgot, RIP Big Mac

Liked his show a lot, one of the few fox "TALK TO THE CAMERA" shows I enjoyed.

50 is way too young. RIP

I was kind of shocked when I heard. Then I called my mom and shocked her. Then I wrote a journal entry.

It's kind of subsided now, but wow. I never would have thought. It was way too early, but may he Rest in Peace.

Holy shit, this is a shock to the system. I mean George Carlin was getting on in years, but 50. That's pretty shocking.

RIP.

I never really was a huge fan of Bernie Mac, but when I saw him in movies (Bad Santa, Ocean's movies) I always enjoyed his performances. It's really a shame he's dead.

Kilroy Aug 9, 2008 03:03 PM

I've never seen him beyond movies, but I liked his roles in Transformers and the Ocean's-movies.
Not much to say, really:(

Bernie Mac was one of the key reasons I enjoyed Ocean's Eleven so much. Where you could say that George Carlin was about shrewd insight, Mac was about impeccable timing. Even his stuttering was carefully calculated. The scene at the used car dealership in which Mac's character is purposely stalling, that remains one of the most well-executed segments of the film.

I loved him in the Kings of Comedy, moreso in the Ocean trilogy. I was even agreeable to his sitcom. The man was simply funny.

Why can't the crappy comedians die for a change?

I pretty much second this post. RIP Mr. Mac.

As for his Ocean's Trilogy character, I'd have to go back and watch those movies again to agree or disagree with the first part of your post crash ( & quote it too or leave this as it is ), since my memory of them is a little fuzzy... and I don't even know if I saw the third movie or not.
