Parasite Eve III

This is awesome, however I wish it was for PS3 & XBOX360.

Well, remember that this isn't a new game; but rather a port of a cell phone game announced... last year? I think.

Interesting to see, but I'm not entirely surprised to see a port.

LS Aug 1, 2008 09:15 PM

link is down :( anyone got any other links regarding this game?

Lacerta Aug 1, 2008 09:20 PM

I'm surprised they did not decide to cancel the cellphone version.

Then again PE on the go via a phone is probably more convenient than on a PSP for Japan.

Inhert Aug 1, 2008 09:26 PM

actually I thought that the psp was pretty big in japon, with title like monster hunter and upcoming phantasy star portable.

if I'm not mistaken it's one of the top selling console in japan.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 1, 2008 09:30 PM

Lacerta's not talking about sales. Though even if he was, cell phone sales way, way outpace the PSP's.

Andrew Evenstar Aug 1, 2008 09:30 PM

Although I am disappointed it's not for ps3 and xbox, I'm excited for a new game :)

Inhert Aug 1, 2008 09:33 PM

oh yeah I didn't see it that way..

Scarletdeath Aug 1, 2008 09:39 PM

What on earth- PE3?! I loved the previous games. Still, bummed that it's for the PSP. At least make it PS2 or something.

Inhert Aug 1, 2008 09:41 PM

well just be happy last year it was announced only for cellphone so now we are at least getting it on psp...

Ditto!!! :D Finally! A new PE game! I wish it'd be more like the 1st game than the 2nd one :D

Kairi Li Aug 2, 2008 12:41 PM

Looks like Square is finally seeing the light. First FF13 on the 360, now the previously Japan only cell phone game is PSP bound. Thank god someone in there grew a brain and now we have a shot at getting these games later on.

"The 3rd Birthday"? Honestly, these Squenix titles are making me eyeroll harder than I ever thought possible.

That being said, I really enjoyed the first Parasite Eve (Never got around to playing the second, though I should at some point), so I'm mildly interested.

Even for a spin-off title, that's a pretty crappy title.

I still look forward to seeing Aya in something other than my PSX.

With modern graphics to boot! :D

Kairi Li Aug 2, 2008 02:33 PM

Technically this isn't an official sequel but a side story, hence "Parasite Eve 3" is not really an accurate title, and hence why its called The 3rd birthday instead. Chronologically this is a midquel, Aya is still in NYC in 3rd Birthday.

Not to mention the title probably has some other meaning.... Maybe the 3rd birth of Eve or something? Still, naming a game due to some plot meaning is not always a good thing. I mean look at the impossible name for the KH DS title....

And please don't assume this is gonna have hot graphics. This was initially announced as a Cellphone title, and we don't know if the graphics will be upgraded in the PSP version.

I'd be very surprised if they weren't since there's a huge gap in the capabilities of the PSP and the typical mobile phone. At the very least you'll be getting a whole host of fancy FMVs that'll look pretty I'm sure.

3rd Birthday will be a "true 3D gun action game".

Parasite Eve sequel going to be a real 3D gun action game - The 3rd Birthday - Forever Fantasy

Quote:

IGN has translated an interview from the latest issue of Famitsu and gave some more details about The 3rd Birthday, the Parasite Eve sequel currently in development for the Sony PSP handheld.

According to game director Hajime Tabata, the game will be a "true 3D gun action game", unlike the previous entries in the franchise. In addition, he said Square Enix is working with another development studio on the game.

Tabata also revealed that work on the game's scenario and design is nearly complete, but he didn't mention any specific time frame for a release. It is also worth mentioning that wireless play might be available, although it's uncertain.

Sooo... Uh.... does this mean this topic needs to be moved to the general gaming section?

Also, a part of me just died inside.

Andrew Evenstar Aug 27, 2008 08:29 PM

Can someone name another game which is a TRUE 3d gun action game? Is that like house of the dead or something :( ? :( !!!!!

bahamuty Aug 30, 2008 11:45 PM

So now it's True 3D gun action game on PSP... *sigh* I wish they'd just remake the first PE for PS3 or Xbox360 if they can't give us a proper new game.

speculative Aug 31, 2008 09:20 AM

So, in porting the phone version to PSP they've ditched the phone version completely and since they didn't already have an engine for such a game I assume they're using someone else's engine? Otherwise, what's the point?

Angel of Light Aug 21, 2010 05:25 AM

Huge Huge Bump

I didn't feel it was necessary to make another thread:

At Gamescom, a full 4 minute trailer of The 3rd Birthday was released that shows some gameplay footage of this game coming for the psp. I can't tell how amazing this game looks. It looks like a really fast paced third person shooter with run and gun gameplay. The fact you can quickly swap weapons out, and the action seems so quick paced.

Here is the new trailer for the game:

YouTube Video

Also there has been talk that if this game is successful this holiday season for the PSP, there have been serious talks of bringing the series to the PS3.

Quote:

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at gamescom, 3rd Birthday executive producer Kitase-San has suggested Parasite Eve could find its way to the PS3 in the future. It seems it all depends on the success of PSP exclusive 3rd Birthday, due this Holiday.

"The team had a lot of experience and knew a lot about making a game for PSP which is why we chose PSP as the platform for this game," Kitase-San told VideoGamer.com. "But if this game turns out to be a success then we’d be looking at extending the franchise into ps3."
Anybody else excited for this upcoming game.
