Spoilers

Spoiler:
So I'm pretty stupid some times. I like to watch Mixed Martial Arts, so I frequent news sites for the sport to find out about future events, what's happening with my favorite fighters, etc... But I'm really stupid. I tend to go to the news sites the day of events and then I end up accidentally reading the fight spoilers in the headlines. It's a curse that I have.

Does anybody else end up always accidentally reading spoilers? Are you the type that actively seeks out spoilers because you like to know what's going to happen before it happens?

Discuss.

Diversion Apr 2, 2006 08:53 AM

I'll be honest: when I see that button, it just WANTS to be clicked. I desire it. I need it.

;_;

Elixir Apr 2, 2006 08:54 AM

I'm avoiding all Kingdom Hearts II, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and Final Fantasy XII-related spoilers as hard as I can.

There's an easier way, and it's called not using the internet. Of course this makes games twice as hard, but at least you're getting more value for money that way.

Grawl Apr 2, 2006 08:55 AM

I open them, and take a quick look into it. If I think it'll ruin my game, I'll close it again.

Snowknight Apr 2, 2006 09:16 AM

I generally read all the spoilers for things that I'm not playing/reading/watching, mainly to see if I should be.
Like Grawl, I'll still read the spoilers for the things I'm playing/reading/watching, but if I think that they'll ruin some part of it, I'll stop reading it.

Dekoa Apr 2, 2006 09:18 AM

I remember reading the spoiler for the most recent Harry potter book. That sucked man.

Also an aquaintance of mine has a theory:
Spoiler:
He says that Dumbledore never died, that it was in fact Peter Petigrew. This being that he reasons snap using the controlling curse on Petigrew. He was told to act just like Dumbledore and he used the Polyjuice potion. Not only that but when the tower scene happened, Dumbledore was pleading because when he was around Snape, he was normal. And that is why Dumbledore begged for his life.

Summonmaster Apr 2, 2006 12:36 PM

Oh wow, that HP theory gave me incredible hope :)

If I leave spoiler buttons unclicked or don't scroll down to read them, then bad things happen. Unfortunately, my impulse to click spoiler topics for games that I haven't beaten has spoiled my view due to impatience.
eg. I thought I would never beat Disgaea last year, so I read a spoiler topic and the whole time I played after that I thought:
Spoiler:
All right, so how are they going to reveal that MidBoss is Laharl's father? It would make sense when you look at the Seraph's mystery discussions, but after even reading the Ending faq, it implies that they only hint at it in the good ending.

Eleo Apr 2, 2006 01:17 PM

Dumbledore is a douchebag.

Spoiler:
I love spoilers, most of the time. But I didn't want to know that Pyramid Head is tearing a woman's flesh off in that one shot in the trailer.

Rydia Apr 2, 2006 01:19 PM

I try to avoid them whenever possible. On this forum, I don't open spoilers in topics I know I'm not familiar with. As for other cases, I generally stay away from reading about anything I don't want spoiled.

elwe Apr 2, 2006 01:21 PM

I usually end up reading spoilers on purpose, even though I really would have rather found out on my own at some later time. I keep telling myself that I'm not going to spoil {insert game or show here}, but that doesn't work most of the time.

Eleo Apr 2, 2006 01:21 PM

Spoiler:
So you didn't click on this?

Spoiler:
Really?

Paco Apr 2, 2006 01:33 PM

The Usual Suspects:
There was no Kaizer Soze.

Fight Club:
There was no Jack.

Primal Fear:
There was no Aaron Stampler.

Everyday life:
There is no god.

Seriously guys... Get over it.

Dekoa Apr 2, 2006 01:48 PM

The Final Digit of PI:
Like hell would I know, I was hoping you could tell me. Anyways spoilers are spoilers and the can't resist being read.

Shadow Drax Apr 2, 2006 02:04 PM

Now, spoilers I can't resist! Especially if it's something I'm playing/watching/reading at the time...it doesn't seem to spoil my enjoyment knowing whats going to happen and I'm not too sure why!

I clicked on a Rozen Maiden Traumend spoiler the other day and I was pissed. Might not have been true though. I'm trying to put it out of my mind as best I can.

Also
Spoiler:
mixed martial arts FTW.

Luxo Apr 2, 2006 03:54 PM

lollin'

shadowlink56 Apr 2, 2006 04:00 PM

I'm pretty untempted by most spoilers, even if it's something I really am excited about. If I don't want to know, I hate finding out, so I take steps.

Spoiler:
And God really does exist, and he's very powerful!

Gumby Apr 2, 2006 04:06 PM

I click on most spoilers just because people often use them for jokes rather than things that I shouldn't read. Besides I play/watch very few things that would actually warrent me not opening the spoilers.

Shenlon Apr 2, 2006 04:15 PM

Sometimes I click spoilers becuase its from a subject of interest. The problem is that people don't specify their spoilers. Sure they say "Oh, about FFX *spoiler*"
but its better to say which part they are talking about or if its from an anime or any other series to specify an episode.
When I do click them I make sure to cover whatever I didn't read so that I stay spoiler free for the most part.

Then why didn'y you contribute to my GFF MMA thread? It died with me as the only poster.

Pride Bushido 10 Main Event Spoiler
Spoiler:
Gomi got choked out in round 1! I was sad.

Dhsu Apr 2, 2006 09:59 PM

Spoilers pretty much ruin the whole deal for me. Some jerk intentionally posted an FF12 spoiler publically, and now it's gonna be in the back of my mind the entire game. Same with Aeris. :(

There's a lot of stuff that I'm glad was never spoiled for me though. Like Star Wars ESB (yes, I'm serious, it was awesome). And Metal Gear Solid. That was before I started anticipating plot twists in video games, so it completely threw me off...

Ryuu Apr 2, 2006 10:09 PM

I really can't help by click on the spoilers because I always want to know what it says cause I'm curious. That's why I stir clear of some threads because I can't help but click on the spoilers and read what it says - I just feel like I'm missing something cool/important that I must check out.

Spoiler:
*Shrug*

Spatula Apr 2, 2006 10:10 PM

Spoiler:
I swear to God if someone spoils any major FFXII stuff for me I'd be fucking pissed. I really didn't bother much with anything to do with FFXII until I started seeing the reviews and such with the March 16 Japanese release date. I'm sorry that I'm hyped. ;_;

Now this is almost a double edged sword that I want to know as much general information about FFXII so I check up with the thread already made in the RPG forum, but at the same time fear the spoilers. Thank God someone made a seperate spoiler zone thread. Props.

Oh yeah, about FFVII:

Spoiler:
SOMEBODY DIES, BUT I CAN'T SAY WHO :tpg:

XtremeDJW Apr 3, 2006 08:56 AM

I accidentally read a spoiler from the season finale of the Shield. I was not best pleased I can tell you.
