Cannot find thegame32.exe
Downloaded a file, it contained a virus that copied itself to the windows folder. I deleted it and the file that carried it, and yet now when I start up my laptop, windows tries to open the file.
So far the problem is not debilitating, but it is annoying. Any idea on how to fix it? :S |
....you haven't run a proper virus scan?
|
Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup Tab -> See if it's in the list, and if so, uncheck.
|
And if it's not there, Start -> Run -> regedit, and do a search for "thegame32.exe" in case that virus is started as a service.
|
You just lost thegame.

As late as it is, thanks for the help, worked like a charm. Been in ohio without my laptop. Ugh.
And as for virus software...I just got the free AVG (very broke) along with the usual anti spyware programs. |
