Quantum of Solace

I did a search and was surprised there was no thread.

Synopsis (taken from Wikipedia):
Quote:

Michael G. Wilson confirmed the film continues "an hour after" Casino Royale's conclusion, when Mr. White is shot and captured by Bond at Lake Como. Bond is then involved in a car chase in Siena, Italy. The official synopsis shows that White reveals to Bond and M that his organisation (called Quantum) has agents in Her Majesty's Government and the Central Intelligence Agency. Forensic evidence of an MI6 traitor leads Bond to Haiti, where he meets Camille, who then helps him find Dominic Greene, a ruthless businessman and chairman of Greene Planet, the legitimate cover for Quantum.

Greene intends to use his government contacts to help overthrow the current regime in Bolivia,[8] and place the exiled General Medrano as the head of state. Medrano will in exchange give him a barren piece of land, which will actually give them total control of the nation's water supply.[9] Bond travels to Austria and South America to unravel Greene's plan, staying one step ahead of the CIA, terrorists, and M whilst trying to keep his desire for retribution over Vesper Lynd's death in check

It seems Bond 22 now has its first offical trailer release. The trailer squeezes in a bit too much in, rather than acting as guide for what is to come but there does seem to be evidence of more heart thumping action and a bit of dreaded CGI. The plot sounds likes its going to get a little complicated and I hope the film does not suffer as a result. This film will truly judge whether Daniel Craig will become an established bond.

Mathieu Amalric is exciting, because I enjoyed his performance in Munich.

I have pretty decent expectations for this movie and we'll see if the reboot can hold.

So, it's a REAL sequel Bond. As opposed to the rather episodic titles.
Haven't seen one of those in a while...

I'm not sure I like this "mature" way Bond is walking down. I really liked him better as the dry humoured, dedicatedly british action-hero. Serious Bond is... Serious.

The logo design is pretty clever.

I loved Casino Royale, so this is a must-see for me - I'm surprised it's taken this long for a trailer to surface given it's coming out in November. The bulk of the Haiti filming took place near the Panama marina my mum lived in for a few months, and from her photos and stories, there are apparently boat-flipping chase scenes - after the awesomeness of the opening chase in The World Is Not Enough (one of the few good parts of that film, mind you), I'm looking forward to this.

Saw this yesterday. Loved it. As good as Casino Royale.

Plus, the villain had the oldschool megalomaniacal batshit insanity going on this time. The gritty mood definitely fits it.

e: Also, I hate the theme tune a whole lot less after seeing the main titles and hearing it reprised in the score.

Does it follow the formula of Casino Royale of exciting chase scene mostly unrelated to the movie at the beginning, boring as hell sequence for almost the rest of the movie, and then some random action at the end?

My thoughts too. I enjoyed the hell out of this film, and loved the couple of nods to classic Bond stuff they threw in. If you liked Casino Royale, definitely worth a look.

As for the theme song, I don't like it. It's not a bad song as such, and there are aspects to it which have a great sound (the beginning bit worked fantastically over the titles), but as soon as they start singing it just doesn't feel like a Bond tune. However, as Krel said, hearing it used as part of the score it works a lot better.

I will see this opening night. I loved Casino Royale. I can not wait for this film. Glad to hear that was pretty good from both of your reviews. Thanks.

I haven't given Daniel Craig much of a chance to be honest, I'm still wrapped up in how much I loved Connery really.
