Hey bobo! Request here~
I think you coded the original rating system here, didn't you? I found one on vb.org but yours was way better than that. Could you make it again please? I miss it a lot. ;____;
|
Seconded. I thought it was interesting to see the board's general perception of people I don't know before I read their post, rather than having to go by postcount right now. Which sucks. And is completely inaccurate.

Yeah, except those who offer FTPs tended to get much higher votes than those who actually did something else for the community. Even most FTPs that were run by an ass were given 4 stars on a near consistent basis.
Plus there are those who rate lowly on everyone just to mess with the system... |
Well, nothing is perfect.
But I'd like to have the rating system back as well. I'm "smug" like that. |

While I am sure I will score low this time around (since I am SO MEAN), I'd like to see the rating system come back too.
I wonder if its something Blah could do? |

Mega bump!
bobo, we miss you. =( |
I don't get why anyone wants this. Does anyone really need ratings to tell them whether a member is good or not? Try going to the journals page and you'll find out pretty well who is liked and who isn't by whom. That's pretty much all it's used for, anyway. In that respect, I find the rating system to be redundant.
|
Yeah, bobo (or Miles, for that matter) could be spending time devoted to the rating system and use it for putting the member gallery back in.
|
I agree with Styphon and Minion. I mean, the rating system was interesting at first, but why do you people who have been here for like four years need it anymore? You already know who likes you, who doesn't, hell, you probably know exactly what rating you would have.
|
I would have a 4.385960483745834, most likely. Which is, of course, significantly better than a mere 4.38. Clearly marking me as superior to any such user.
|
Yeah, lets get rid of a neat system we've had on these forums since the beginning of time just because there's a small group of people that don't want it.
Seriously though. If I installed the rating hack on the VB website I bet you'll be missing bobo's version of the rating system right away. The poor postbit feels so incomplete without it. ;_; |
Sage this.
"He argued against me and was right, 1." "He's a dick but he runs an FTP, 5." |
If we bring it back, can we change it so it's more meaningful and less ridiculous? We don't need ratings of 1-5. Anything besides 1, 3 and 5 is meaningless. We should just have "Good, Average and Sucks" or something. And nothing with 15 decimal places after it. Just base what they get on a histogram of votes, kinda like the way professors decide what grade you get in a class.

I prefer to wait for the better version, if it ever comes. |
How can you be sure that Sephiroth, Cloud, Mario, or Starfox aren't regulars here at GFF? I don't feel it's fair that you discriminate against video game characters. They have every right to have their photos up as well as anyone else.
|
No they don't.
|
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we have rules against video game characters posting their own pictures in the FAQ. If you can't find it in there, they must have been lost with the crash.
|
I never read the FAQ. What kind of loser reads that shit, lol. I bet the staff members haven't really read it either.
|
I generally rate everyone a five anyway but sure I'd like to see this feature again. It would certainly make my sig more useful.
|
Acer, there are some people that rate people 1s just for putting a rate me in their signature. Rating whore! =O
Also, bump since bobo is online. |
This is something I will be working on this weekend. :)
|
Awesome! I'd love to have the rating system back. It is interesting to know whether people like you or not, from the regulars to the new guys. However, I'd like to know what each person gave me. Tthere was no such option before the board crashed. Is it possible to implement something like that?
