Super Dodge Ball Brawlers. Would you like to be smacked by our balls today?

Personally, I think the idea of an 8-player Bean Ball would be insane. And fun. A little more looking around on the site gives us this Tuesday for a release date. Anyone else excited about giving this game a try? |
I thought the the "other" brawl thread got renamed again.
Well this mentioned game here better have WFC play. |
Apparently today was the ship date, not necessarily a release date per se according to two Gamestops. Now that's misleading if I ever heard it. Though it seems true since Wal-Mart and the Target I work at didn't have it either, and I probably would have seen it at Target before it went on the shelves if it had come in that day.
I was told it would probably be available tomorrow, though I was hoping to at least have a look at the box to see if and what wifi capabilities the game might have. No dice, of course. |
Bump with an update: I had a look at it at Gamestop today and I couldn't see the Nintendo WFC icon on the box anywhere. It does mention being able to play with a friend, but does that mean also being able to play with a friend through the Nintendo WFC? I'm guessing no.
A letdown that may be, but it is tempting nonetheless. I don't know of many DS games that can support up to 8 players off a single game card. It does sound like a great option if you have a good-sized gathering of DSers wanting to play. |
Another bump with some to talk about gameplay since it finally arrived in the mail. The single player is more or less like it was in the original on the NES, but with the additions like items or punching/kicking (if you choose to have them), it adds quite the spin on the game, especially in Bean Ball. For example, at the start of the match, my front guy sprints for the ball like the CPU's does, but instead of picking up the ball, I give him a boot to the head and then pick up the ball if it stops on my side. With additions like this, Bean Ball isn't so much just "run from the guy who has the ball" anymore. I don't think punches/kicks actually take away healther, but they will make the person drop the ball (or whatever they're carrying). The nice thing too is, if you feel like you'd rather it be more like the old classic, you can turn the punches/kicks as well as the items off.
Seriously, 8 players with this game would just be utter mayhem. And while it is disappointing that there's no Wifi capability, I think this would make a great DS party game. Even better is that only one person has to have the game to do that. |
You mean it doesn't have online play?
|
No, sadly. The only multiplayer capability is just wireless with people/friends nearby.
|
What's up with these great games not getting online multiplayer anyways? It really sucks, just look at Mario Party DS and now this. I looked forward into clobbering some ppl online with Dodgeball but I guess I have to wait until some pro hobbyist coding team creates a tunneling app.
I do remember some talk between Nintendo and Gamespy about possible tunneling but that was a long time ago and things are still very quiet. Come on Nintendo, online is the way to go. |
