Apple's Thirtieth Birthday

I think it was in Macworld that Steve Jobs announced it wouldn't let Apple's 30th b-day go unnoticed and that he had some surprises up his sleave...

Anyone care to venture a guess as to what is planned?

YeOldeButchere Mar 31, 2006 03:17 PM

He's going to show up without his black turtle neck.

Lol, that WOULD be a surprise :p

This is crazy talk.

I don't know. Jobs has been known to shock people at events like this. Maybe he'll surprise the world of Apple by announcing his retirement or something. I can't think of anything that could possibly be worse than that, but hey, it could happen.

30 years Apple ... what can I say? I still want one...

At the very least, I hope that any new products are more impressive than their last big thing. Did anyone actually buy an iPod hi-fi?

I'm kinda hoping for a spiritual successor to the Twentieth Anniversary Mac...but the current iMac kind of fits that same role, doesn't it? They'll probably just size-bump the current iPod line, or, better, release a new iPod video that has a screen the full size of the player.

Or perhaps they might come out with that Apple tablet that has been speculated about.
(yeah right)

The product I'm still waiting for is essentially an headless iMac. The mini was a fine first step, but if they offered a mid range monitor-less machine, then me, and most tech people I know, would get one. There is just too large a gap in performance and price between a mini and a powermac.

Because a battery life of 0.02 seconds is what we all dream of.

MagicalVacation Apr 1, 2006 08:10 AM

I don't think they'll be releasing a new Ipod for at least a year more... They're gonna want to squeeze out the Ipod Video as much as possible before offering a substitute.

YeOldeButchere Apr 1, 2006 01:34 PM

Well, those of you looking for something like the iPod, only better, could always take a look at the iZilla.

MagicalVacation Apr 1, 2006 01:40 PM

... and all it needs to be portable are 16 D size batteries.

MagicalVacation Apr 6, 2006 09:43 AM

Well... it seems now the only thing Apple released was an update to Mac OSX...

Unless ofcourse they're still working on their next big thing.
