Piano Squall - Otakon

Was just wondering if anyone here has seen him perform. He seems fairly well known in the anime world and I was just curious as to what your experiences were like.

The reason I ask is because I just did a feature profile on him at IGN.

Pianist Performs Game Music for Charity

He also plays anime/vg music for a good cause, so if you haven't heard of him, please check it out :)

I also blogged about our interview here: soapymoose's Blog - Zzz...

It's funny, because I got into VGM because of gamingforce when they used to have sheet music. After being a part of this community and SquareSound, it eventually led me to pursue a career in the VG industry so I owe a lot of my job satisfaction to these forums :D

Hi Soapy!

Yes, I saw him a few years ago (03 or 04? Somewhere in there...Maybe 05) He did 3 FF arrangements and the rest were anime ones...I left after the VGM arrangements (I know Zanarkand was in there...I want to say Vamo and the Prelude were the other songs, but I don't remember) I just remember the speakers weren't set right and he had to keep adjusting between songs. He seemed cool...He was hanging out and talking with people out in the main pick-up spot once the con was over for the night.

He did Otakon in 2005 and that was the big concert with around 3000 people. Was it that one? Sounds like it. I'm not too familiar with anime conventions, but he's been at 30 different ones. (nuts!)

Nah, couldn't have been 3000 people...Maybe 300-400 or so. Really informal stuff (I was standing in the back of the room looking at my con schedule).
