If you woke up one morning.

Lets say you wake up one morning and suddenly your back in your old apartment and your age was ten years younger, and you realize that the last 10 years you have lived was all a dream?

What would you do?

Personally i would be really stoked out!! i would first calm myself and then be overcome with a wave of happiness, because then i can fix things that i have done wrong (Assuming i keep my dream memories)

Discuss.

I would think "FUCK! I have to do it all again?". Probably.

Paco Apr 14, 2008 02:09 PM

"Alright, people! Let's take it from the top with lot more liquor and a little less suck!"

Fire On Ice Apr 15, 2008 01:04 AM

There were a lot of people just begging to be socked in the face when I was younger, I would take every opportunity I could to do so. Then maybe I'd learn how not to hold grudges....

Nah.

mortis Apr 15, 2008 01:33 AM

Well, given what you just said, I would retain all the knowledge and experience I gained in the last ten years.

With that being said, I would use what I learned, especially regarding the new technological advances, to set up quite a future for myself and others. I mean, this is like the old 'if only I knew M$ would be as it were and I placed stock into it' but changing M$ to, say, Apple, and their iPods or whatnot.

Plarom Apr 15, 2008 02:28 AM

I'd go directly to the girl I'm currently seeing and introduce myself.

Soluzar Apr 15, 2008 03:43 AM

I'd spend a whole lot less time stoned, and a whole lot more time studying and working hard. I was such a slacker in my twenties, and I expect I could see some major changes to my current situation if I applied my current frame of mind to the situation.

Mortis also makes a good point. I know all kinds of things that would have shocked me back then. Microsoft making the most successful games console? I can barely believe it even now, let alone ten years ago.

Ideally I would want to go back further if I was going to start living my life over with the same knowledge though. I'm not entirely dissatisfied with my current situation, but I know I could do better than I ever did. The only part that would suck is that I'm almost certain there wouldn't be any way to make sure things work out with my current girlfriend in that timeline. You can't reliably duplicate a chance meeting, and there's no way to know if she would initially be drawn to me in the same way.

This seems to be the dream most people have, to properly re-live ther lives, to fix their past mistakes etc. But the real problems come from certain instances when things were set up perfectly before that created something great, like meeting new people or getting a job unexpectedly or randomly getting something of value, Im sure when you re-live your expected early life, those instances wont show cause youve altered the balance or something to that effect.

Anyway, yeah, reliving early days is definately the dream and to know that the good things that happened will still happen would make it perfect. Id personally play catch up with a bunch of games, avoid and meet some people I know, you know, stuff most people would do

What would I do if I was sent back to 1998?

(1) Invest in the Stock Market
(2) Use funds earned with #1 to finance a tech startup in an area known to grow and be bought (i.e. start MySpace)
(3) High School Chicks.

The_Melomane Apr 15, 2008 02:27 PM

I'd be 9. So I'd probably finish grade school.

Exactly. That's what I would be concerned about if offered the chance to try this. It's not like a videogame where you get to save, if you end up with a life that's actually worse at the end of this, you'd be stuck with that life. I may not have made a huge success out of my career or my academic endeavours, but I found some good friends and a nice girl, which seems like a lot to risk.

I'd put a lot more effort into high school, completely avoiding the 4 years that I've spent at community college due to a lack of a good GPA to get into a "real college" right out of high school.

Chaotic Apr 15, 2008 05:13 PM

I'd be 8... So, I'd probably take more initiative on stuff that I regretted doing during my middle school and high school years.

Maybe then I'd get the girl. ;_;

Krelian Apr 15, 2008 07:18 PM

I'd stop complaining about the trivial shit that bothered me when I was eight, and realise that things never lose their potential to get a lot, lot worse.

Infernal Monkey Apr 15, 2008 07:34 PM

I'd go back to sleep, then keep waking up ten years earlier, until I'm a dinosaur chasing Captain Caveman around.

guyinrubbersuit Apr 15, 2008 07:35 PM

Seeing as how I'd be 13 if it was 10 years ago I'd probably force myself to practice guitar more, draw more and be less of a pussy when it comes to asking out girls.

Bernard Black Apr 15, 2008 07:45 PM

If i were mentally 10 years younger, I'd drink myself to death. If I were physically 10 years younger.. oh wait.

Zergrinch Apr 15, 2008 08:21 PM

I'd invest in Microsoft, Google, and Apple stock! :p

I'll also make a very large bet on a terrorist attack happening on September 11, 2001...

Ehm. Sticky can of worms, this. Profit or save lives? :3:

Will Apr 15, 2008 10:39 PM

I've thought about this. It'd be pretty pimp to try high school all over again, and then not waste three years on a major I hated. I've spent the last 10 years becoming myself without really accomplishing much else. So if I could still be me but have all that time back, I'd be pretty stoked I guess.

No. Hard Pass. Apr 15, 2008 11:47 PM

I'd fly to California and find some guy named Juan who was all 14 and little and a bitch. And then I'd stomp his nuts. Because I think it'd be funny to hear Enceph tell this story about how some huge gringo just came up out of nowhere when he was like, 15, and just wailed on his junk, yelling about how he'd thank him for it in a few years when he avoided an unfortunate pregnancy scare because his boys shot blanks.

I'd be doing it for you, lawn care expert.

Paco Apr 15, 2008 11:49 PM

As long as my sausage still worked, I'd love you forever, lumberfuck. <3

I'd only aim for the bag. I'm not a monster. Plus there's no WAY I'm missing out on the you-fucking-your-cousin's-girlfriend-on-your-sister's-car story.

Wall Feces Apr 16, 2008 12:32 AM

I'd probably say "fuck" and proceed to do everything over again the exact same way I did in my dream.

Rydia Apr 16, 2008 12:49 AM

I'd be pretty disappointed since I've put in a lot of work so far to get to where I am. I'm also a little over a year away from getting my degree, so waking up one morning to find out that I'd have to "do it again" would be really disheartening. :(

Angel of Light Apr 16, 2008 01:35 AM

I'd probably be disappointed quite a lot because I'm pretty proud of all the things I've accomplished in my life so far despite moving away to work for a few months at the time.

The big things I would do is take advantage of a lot of missed opportunities I've had in my life especially in university. Since 10 years ago, I would be finishing high school and going to university. I would probably try to get my fiance a lot earlier in life, but other than that I wouldn't really change that much.
