Sousei no Aquarion

Description taken from AnimeNFO.com

Human race had lost 2/3 of the world's population because of a random act of nature. The ice on the Antarctica melted, and Atlantis appeared. It was the civilization ruined 12,000 years ago. Because of this, the Fallen Angels got revived. They were a race of humans with wings and they sent biomechanical weapons called "Mythical Beasts" into cities to capture people in order to drain them of biological energy called "Purana".

The human were excavating the ruins on the bottom of the sea to look for fighter planes, "Vector Machines". They were the weapon that was said to run the Fallen Angels. Vector Machines combine together and turn into "Machine Angel Aquerion".

In order to operate Aquerion, a person with the Element ability only could be compatible with the system; they gathered teenagers for candidates to be pilots.

Then, the day came when "Machine Angle Aquerion" appeared.
I'm pretty sure some people have already watched this anime, but it's fairly recent so we could still talk about.

I'm watchign it now and so far I'm loving it. I'm still on episode 19 and it just keeps getting better and better.
The animation impressed a lot, it is great, full of color and the movements of the robot is incredibly smooth.

What you people think about this anime ? Did you like it ? Since I haven't watched it all I'll not judge it becasue sometimes the ending makes all the difference.

If anyone doesn't know where to get it, Mahou has subbed the entire show.

I really did not like this series that much, though toward the end it was a lot better than the earlier episodes. The problem I had with it, though maybe it was the fan subs fault was the fact that the story was never well explained. I always felt like I knew where the plot was going even though its destination was not very enticing. You hear abhout all this stuff that supposedly happens in the past but they never properly explain this "past" or Atlantis or the Atlantian's purpose. It's all very vague. Who are the atlanians in charge (you know the guy with the wierd mask) that are never explained yet appear in most of the episodes. I just wish more of the back story was explained.
I do Agree that the animation is top notch as is the music also.
Another thing I did not enjoy was the repetitiveness of the formula used to craft each episode. Every new episode there is a new obisticle they have to get around to destroy the new mythical beast. In order to do this they have to rely on each other or one of the members powers or strong characteristics to do so. Then the learn some new "flying fist through the moon that circles around the galaxy and punches you in the face" attack and the episode is over. Wash repeat process and recycle for the next episode. You get the picture, it just feels monotonous after 26 episodes.
The other annoying thing was the orgasms. Now this is funny and WTFish at first, but after a while it just becomes another annoyance. Do they really have to show it every time, its all a little ridiculous.

From that description this looks like a complete rip-off of Evangelion.

yea except it is not anywhere near as good

Evangelion is my all time favorite, and Sousei no Aquation doesn't get near Evangelion in any way (well. the animation is better but considering that there are 10 years difference between the 2 shows, that's expected).

THe orgasms had their reason in a few episodes, but most of the time it was just pointless. But I think if the purpose of this show is to entertain, it does it very well.

I knew I made a right choice at leaving this thing the second it revealed we had a member of the Black Moon Family in the main team's midsts.

The new attacks every episode just get dumber and dumber though....give me a break....the super love attack thing. I mean that was pretty much the lamest it could have gotten. (monotonous too).
"Oh no we can't beat the new evil robot thing. We must work together and trust each other. OOOH now all of a sudden my fist goes mach 20,000 and can reach the moon and destroy it, then fly back and hit the evil robot in the crotch. Yay we win!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I mean thats an over-exaggeration but you get the point.

I got your point and even though I'm enjoying this anime I have to agree. There are some moments in the show that makes you wonder "Why the hell is it there ?".

The openings on the other hand, are a great piece of work. I've been listenind to it a lot, but I don't know the singer's name, do you happen to know it ? (I downloaded the OP single, and there there aren't credits for the singers of those openings)

EDIT:
I found out the who the singer of the openings are, AKINO.
But do you people know if this "Akino" is the same as "Arai Akino" ?

I'd assume the one big difference between this and EVA is a lack of emo drama in this. Possibly more about the mechs and blowing stuff up?

I don't really know who does the opening songs but I do know that Yoko Kanno is involved with the Soundtrack and I love Yoko Kanno. All of her work is amazing.
