hundreds of blocked intrusions?!?
Ok firstoff I want to state that I am a paranoid when it comes to spyware adware etc. I do not go around downloading lots of 3rd-party malware/spyware-ridden garbage and I have multiple scanners.
That said my zonealarm intrusion blocking count is going up by like a hundred every few hours etc now Im glad that its being blocked but Im wondering why im being hit so often? I have high security settings, I dont browse risky sites so Im wondering what could be causing it? I use bitcomet and thats maybe once in awhile and even then I haven't been using it recently when the count has been going up. I tried using hijackthis/scanners etc and I cant find anything wrong so Im wondering whats with all the attacks? Any help is much appreciated  |
When I had a software firewall, it was like this. I would get hit thousands of times an hour. Now I have a hardware firewall (with my router) and don't even use a firewall besides Windows firewall. It's actually wish I did run a software firewall, but since no software is made to be compact, and I have only 512MB of RAM...

Totally normal. Someone may be running a port scan which falls in your IP range and your firewall is doing its job or your ISP may even be running some type of port maintenance. You do not need to worry about anything, as this is a non-issue.

Yes, firewall makers really ought to change their language a bit so that people don't think that they're being hacked.
