The Incredible Hulk

Quote:

THE INCREDIBLE HULK. We find scientist Bruce Banner, living in shadows, scouring the planet for an antidote. But the warmongers who dream of abusing his powers won't leave him alone, nor will his need to be with the only woman he has ever loved, Betty Ross. Upon returning to civilization, our brilliant doctor is ruthlessly pursued by The Abomination -- a nightmarish beast of pure adrenaline and aggression whose powers match The Hulk's own. A fight of comic-book proportions ensues as Banner must call upon the hero within to rescue New York City from total destruction. One scientist must make an agonizing final choice -- accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or the creature he could permanently become: THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

No. Hard Pass. Mar 12, 2008 10:51 PM

THEY'RE MAKING THIS MOVIE. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE IT IF THEY MADE THIS MOVIE.

Seriously. Why?

Smelnick Mar 12, 2008 11:24 PM

The first one wasn't spectacular in my opinion. Although I liked the scene where he jumps across the states or whatever. Otherwise, not very engaging so to speak. Maybe the second one will be better. HA! I've never seen a sequel excel beyond the first one. But I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

Tagonist Mar 13, 2008 04:35 AM

Hum, so...
Instead of blurry CGI overkill Hulk we get... CGI overkill Hulk. Wait, what...?

That being said, I really, really liked the first movie, and never quite understood why people hated it this much. It was a decent comic book action flick with some nice editing and Jennifer Conelly. What MORE could you possibly want?

Seriously, this summer has it all. Hulk, Iron Man AND Batman? Good times.

Krelian Mar 14, 2008 01:39 PM

It's not a sequel. It's a totally separate film.

...So, essentially, it's a remake of a film that's less than ten years old.

I don't know if I can condone this.

No it's not a remake or a seperate film. The director has said that this movie is a sequel in the same way Aliens is to Ridley Scott's original.

VitaminZinc Mar 15, 2008 04:43 AM

I think it looks entertaining, at least.

While I liked the first Hulk movie, it was more drama. This seems more like an action flick, and that's fine with me.

That's a relief because I swear I had heard that it was basically a remake, that people overall disliked the last movie and so some crazy studio decided to give it another go. Why the need to qualify it as a sequel like "Aliens is to Ridley Scott's original", though? What other type of sequel is there?

Tagonist Mar 15, 2008 06:28 PM

Bond. Batman. Diffrent actor, diffrent take on the character, etc.

Tesla Mar 16, 2008 02:20 PM

Looks extremely cheesy. But yeah, this isn't a sequel at all. It's just a retake on the same character and has been done several times before.

I see you're unable to read other people's posts before making your own.

It's much more of a reboot, the way that 'Aliens' is a sequel to 'Alien,' but the kinds of movie are different. It keeps the mythology of the worlds, but it's a totally different structure.

EXCL: Zak Penn on Norton as Hulk! - Superhero Hype!

Yeah, exactly why it isn't a sequel. It's much like Christopher Nolan's take on batman. It's completely different than Tim Burton's version, yet features the same character. Therefore, it is not a direct sequel.

Aliens was a sequel to Alien because it followed the same plot, featured the same main character. Just because it was presented by a different director doesn't change that.

God, is this the type of people we're raising now? Log off and get a goddamned basic education before you respond to me again.

I see what you did there. The new hulk is an entirely different version than Ang Lee's version. HOWEVER, Aliens was meant to follow the first, making it a sequel, same series, same quadrilogy, etc. The movie follows up on the original hulk from a comic-book standpoint. Though, apparently it isn't a direct sequel; more or less a reboot.

Just because it features the same "superhero" in it, doesn't make the movie a direct sequel.

Quit being obnoxious.

It certainly looks better than that train wreck Ang Lee gave us. I've always been a fan of Edward Norton's movies, so I'm looking forward to this one. I hope they give him a little more screen time than that one fight which looks to be the end of the movie, though.

Hey man, it's no big deal. It'll be on the internet sometime in the week and on the DVD/BR whenever that comes out.

I like the ending to make Avengers against Hulk
