Brand new music from my album

MySpace.com - FLOWMAN - TEXARKANA, Texas - Rap / Hip Hop / Progressive - www.myspace.com/blackmanx

"C'mon Now" (Produced by Sinima) - This is a party/club track, not too mindless so even fans of more 'lyrical hip-hop' should enjoy it. Incorporates the T-Pain/Cher/Autotune5 effect on the hook.

"I Make This Look Easy" (Produced by Ansane) - Laid-back, commercial single-type joint with harmonized, sung hook.

Let me know what you think.

This is quite good. I'm not much of a hip-hop expert, so take my praise with a grain of salt. However, I found it very listenable and was able to envision "C'mon Now" being played on radios or at DJ'd events. "I Make This Look Easy" was also good; the pacing was smooth and I liked the drum and bass samples you chose.

Good to see you haven't given up, NP. I like these two tracks. I hope they're met with success.

C'mon Now was excellent. I'm not sure why it's so much cooler than some of the other things you've done. Maybe because it's a little more light-hearted and loosened up?

I actually really love this track.

Refreshing coming from you, NP. I'm impressed.

Appreciate the love - over the last few months, there's been a real reformation in my rap style. Since I'm no longer Disgruntled Negro, no real need to come with the angry music all the time. I'm just tryin' to make some fun music everyone can jam to.

It's what The Re-Invention mixtape-album series is all about; it's a total rebranding of my image from the Disgruntled Negro to the Flowman.

I'm about as white as they come, but I can get into this. I think it opens up your audience a lot, and definitely showcases your talent a little more.

I'm glad to see you go from ANGRY ANGRY FUCK PANG NIGGER SASS to a happy beat that actually makes me want to bop my stupid head. I'm not sure that's what you were aiming for though. Makin' the white girls squeal with delight and all. =D

No. Hard Pass. Mar 12, 2008 09:18 PM

As always, NP, I dig your sound. This is tighter than most of the stuff you've done in the past. I can see some real radio play off something like that. Keep at it, man. You've got some real talent.

Not a fan of hip-hop at all.

That said, I am thoroughly enjoying everything I'm hearing from you. This is some ridiculously good stuff. Major props.

Will Mar 14, 2008 05:20 PM

This is still not my kind of hip-hop, but it's good for what it is. Better than last time. ;)

Night Phoenix Mar 14, 2008 05:59 PM

What is your style of hip-hop then?

Will Mar 15, 2008 01:20 AM

The Roots, Madvillain, Pharoahe Monch, Wu Tang Clan, Tha Alkaholiks, Jay-Z, etc.

That's cool - I respect that. Thanks for just listening though.

And this is exactly what is required in today's clubs and bars. We've seen a predictable shift in hip-hop from real life problems and hope, to self magnifications and entertainment in the last 10 years. That is why I hope that this new style you're striving for will become the fulcrum in turning the wheel in cycling your music into mainstream.

I've been in and out of this forum, and it's heartening to see the progression you've made over the years. Hats off to your endeavors.

NP, are you going to make any of these new songs available for download? I'd like to share them, but some people are afraid of MySpace. =/

Zephyrin Mar 16, 2008 12:35 AM

Sass made me listen to this...okay, not made, but told me about it.

Anyhow, for nigger music, I like it.

I live in Idaho.

edit: okay, listened to Candy on my Doors, and I actually would've downloaded that if I had been able to.

Seconded. A few of my friends are into hip-hop and I think they'd like your stuff. But I see them in person far more than I do online, so it'd be easier to let them listen in on my iPod.

I'm usually not a fan of hip-hop, but this is some pretty listenable stuff. "C'mon Now" is my favourite, too; it flows nicely, Flowman. (o yes I went there)

Good work! If "C'mon Now" isn't on the radios sometime soon then there's something damn wrong with the industry.
