Where to buy a domain?
 

I'm sorry, I'm not sure to put this here or in Computing Help Desk...

Anyway I'm building a website and I'd like a domain. I've done a bit of research but I hope to get advice from someone more knowledgeable.

Here's some places I've looked at which sell them:

active-domain.com
directnic.com
godaddy.com
domain.com

I need to figure out which one to go with, who is legit and who's not, etc. before I whip out the credit card...

Godaddy is very much legitimate, and you can trust them.

I've been using Hostway for years.

GoDaddy is the best bet. I've used them before, they're totally solid.

I've used register dot com domain names, domain URL registration, registration and cheap web hosting for your website address and top URLS for my domain registration without much hassle.

Just got this email from Register.com - Current promo offer of one free year (unsure of the fine print though it does mention "no further obligation")

Huh, that's kinda creepy how when you type their "www" address here, it automatically makes a hyperlink like an ad. (I had to edit my post to take off the "www" because I find that annoying.)
