Internet Disconnecting..

This has been happening to me recently it d/ced me every 20 or so mins , but I've already ran my AV(AVG) scanner, the usual AD-adware, Hi-jack this, and the latter stuff. Im on 56k by the way and my ISP provider is MSN. I haven't messed with any of internet security setting or anything. I'm really at a lost here guys..

You may be more detailed. When does it happen, did you call MSN about it, did you update drivers etc. etc.?

CLOudkiller Mar 27, 2006 06:38 PM

Lemme check right now and see. I haven't called them yet, but I'll try updating the drivers. It happens when I play WoW. I get really high ping then I just get disconnected.

Uhh... what drivers? Grawl was asking a general question: what are you doing when the internet dies? Secondly, have you done anything recently SUCH AS install drivers or update software that might cause it to crap out.

Well, I did install a few updates for window a whiles back, but this didn't happen to me untill about 5 days ago. And In that length of time I'm sure I haven't installed anything.

EDIT: Found out that it only d/ce'd me while playing WoW. Maybe being idle too long?

Or having more connections than your dialup likes to have. (I swear, dial up services crap out after they make so many TCP connections...)

CLOudkiller Mar 27, 2006 09:38 PM

So what do you suggest I do?

Snowknight Mar 27, 2006 09:54 PM

If a better internet service is not affordable, there's not much you can do. Perhaps you might, however, try plugging your modem into a different phone jack; there may be some line noise or something that is causing the possible signal loss.

CLOudkiller Mar 27, 2006 10:41 PM

Ill talk to MSN if they can do anything about it, I'll let you know the results.

I really wonder why you would use 56k nowadays though. Isn't that more expensive than a cheap xDSL/Cable connection, because you don't need to pay for the phone-costs?

In most places in the US, sadly, no. There's usually something that comes out cheaper if only by a tiny bit. (Assuming that this person's country flag is true.)

I'm not allowed that luxury in my rural part of the country... :( And If I could I woudn't be having this problem.

EDIT: Fixed!! Found out it was an idioitic mistake on my behalf. I was twinking with some of the settings earlier. Thanks alot for the help you guys!!

Mods may go ahead and close this thread.
